Fires in Arizona, floods in Texas and we in W NC without water, what is happening weather-wise in your neck of

the woods? Global warming ????Fires in Arizona, floods in Texas and we in W NC without water, what is happening weather-wise in your neck of
I'm in Arizona. The reason we are having so many fires is because we are in a major drought. The second reason is that many environmentalists fought the thinning of the forest that they wanted to do to avoid a disasterous fire. Since they didn't do that, nature is doing it for them.

They do say that Global Warming may have an effect on the hurricanes though.
The South-West is in another drought season. Definitely Global Warming.Fires in Arizona, floods in Texas and we in W NC without water, what is happening weather-wise in your neck of
very hot and humid in Ky. Chance of severe storms almost every day. Tuesday it hailed and I thought it was going to break the windows in my house.
It is beautiful in Fl.,Ga.,%26amp;Al. My thoughts go with those having problems.Fires in Arizona, floods in Texas and we in W NC without water, what is happening weather-wise in your neck of
Global Warming seems to be the main factor, as with it, many natural cycles are being messed up. I wish somebody actually cared enough about this thing :(
I'm in Pittsburgh, Pa. It's currently 73 degrees Fahrenheit, and a thunderstorm that just passed by about 15-20 minutes ago. It's prematurely dark and gloomy.

I love thunderstorms. : )

Overall, it's been really hot and humid; I think a bit more so than usual. Thunderstorms at night are a bit more common than usual, too.

That's all I've got.
Generally quiet...... for now.

I expect a MUCH more active time of it this weekend/early next week.

-combo. of a strong cold fron diving SE, and a tropical disturbance/uppler-low.- (We`ll have to watch it for some SLOW, GRADUAL development.

Global Warming?

Is it possible that I brought the cold weather to WA?

I am pretty cool, maybe a little too cool. I seemed to have frozen the whole western side of the state!

Should I maybe move to a climate that needs to be a bit cooler like Arizona? Is it possible that I brought the cold weather to WA?
That would be such a nice gesture

Share the COOLNESS
Awww, that's just pure coincidence! Your presence simply coincided with the climate changes caused by the relationship between temperature, pressure, condensation, and wind direction. Perhaps your "coolness" may have precipitated it, a bit, though. :o)

No need to move to Arizona at this time unless it becomes a continuing phenomenon due to global warming. Is it possible that I brought the cold weather to WA?
that is possible, I fart alot, and live in GA, and my fart stinks, so last week when there's a mysterious smell in NY, that is said to come from NJ, well, that could have been me, it could be my farts
you must have flown over oklahoma on your way cause its colder than s*** here~!Is it possible that I brought the cold weather to WA?
no
Washington state has always been pretty cold place, now Arizona was awful cold last night for a change. southern California was around 20's that's pretty cold for around this area.

chin
?
You can't take credit for that. The weatherman explained it all on TV last night.
if so....please come to North Carolina and kill some of the criters before summer
haha o yeh how about u go around the whole world to stop global warming...

thanks for the 2 poitns
Please move. We need some warmth here.
Couldn't hurt. Perhaps you are a weather god, ala Freezemiester? I'd get business cards printed up.

What is the fastest driving route from Salt Lake City Utah to Phoenix Arizona?

I will be leaving the fist of November. I know there is a scenic route to take or one can go through Vegas. I would like to try to take the scenic route, but I'm not sure how bad the weather usually is that time of year in southern UT. So if could also comment on that, I would be very grateful. Thanks. What is the fastest driving route from Salt Lake City Utah to Phoenix Arizona?
You drive south through the 4 corner area. Then west to Flagstaff. Then south RT I-10 to Phoenix or you can get a map and find other back road routs that are more scenic. The Grand Canyon is about 60 mi. from Flagstaff. RT 40 I think. It is well worth the trip. There are a lot of motels there.

Whats the weather like in Australia?

I am thinking about 3 different Uni there. They are in Canberra and Sydney. I am from Arizona and just would like to know if there are any extremes in weather?Whats the weather like in Australia?
G'day Emily V,

Thank you for your question.

The extremes in Australian weather are more likely to be heat than cold Canberra is cooler than Phoenix but warmer than most American cities (I have lived in Canberra for thirty years). We have more frosts than Phoenix in winter time and like Phoenix snowfall in the city is rare. It has snowed in the city on a handful of times when I have been here. Canberra has mostly sunny days and even in the winter most days are fine. Sydney is by the coast and has warmer weather but the air quality is not as good as Canberra and travelling times are longer. Rents in both cities would be high by Phoenix standards as Australia has so far been relatively unaffected by the global financial crisis. Canberra is a great city to live in although Sydney would have a more exciting lifestyle.

Canberra would have hotter summer days than Sydney as Sydney would get sea breezes.

I don't know which universities you are considering. I can confirm that the Australian National University is ranked 20th in the world while the University of Sydney and University of NSW are both ranked within the top 50.

RegardsWhats the weather like in Australia?
I really don't think someone from Arizona would enjoy Canberra's weather at all. I couldn't live there and it's mainly the weather that puts me off the place. That and the fact that it's a VERY boring place though it's probably not quite so boring for a student at ANU..

Check out this week's weather forecasts for the two cities - there's a massive difference between them during winter (temperatures all in Celcius of course)
http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/sydn鈥?/a> Sydney
http://www.bom.gov.au/act/forecasts/canb鈥?/a> Canberra
Go to Climate Information on the top menu for info on the rest of the year.Whats the weather like in Australia?
Canberra has baking hot rather dry summers with lots of flies, and freezing winters with the wind blowing off the snowfields. Not the best weather at all. That said, I don't think Canberra is as bad as people make out. It has a very educated prosperous population with very low unemployment and plenty of good restaurants etc.

Sydney has warm to hot and slightly humid summers with occasional evening storms, and cool to mild winters. Definitely the better option as far as climate because it's coastal.

  • Why do all the other insignificant states like Arizona and Oregon hate California?

California is the best, we are the best at everything our state is by far the most beautiful and has the best weather. I can go mountain climbing, go to the beach, go snow boarding all in the same day! Where else in the USA can you do that ?Why do all the other insignificant states like Arizona and Oregon hate California?
Yeah and guess what your economy is falling into the Ocean. O yea Florida's better.
you guys are completely incapable of driving, are intensley ignorant about anything outside of Calfornia (this question is an example), have severe crime and financial problems, and alot of your state (not to point fingers at areas like Orange County) is populated with fake a*sholes that are so convinced of their own importance they fail to recognize that no one cares about them and most people internationally think of them as shallow and sad.Why do all the other insignificant states like Arizona and Oregon hate California?
Here in Oregon you can go mountain climbing, go to the beach, and go snow boarding all in the same day. With less travel time and less traffic than in California! And then when you are done you can drink a fine hand crafted micro brew at one of our local home grown micro breweries, or a fine Pinot Noir from one of our vinyards.

Oregonians don't like Californians because like Snarky said, they cash out their overpriced homes in California and then move up here and overpay for homes here, driving up prices for everyone else. Plus they take all the good jobs.

And we don't like Washingtonians because they think they are better than us when in fact they're not.

But I have to admit that California girls are hotter.
They let in all the illegal immigrants, they have rampant crime because of all the poverty there, they are so far in debt that it probably will never come out ahead.

California has some nice tourist spots.

But it went from being a good place to live into a craphole.

Besides, it is constantly in limbo with New York for the number one state in out-migration of people and businesses because of all the taxes and regulations. Why do all the other insignificant states like Arizona and Oregon hate California?
california might be beautiful but their policies are destroying California- you haven't seen it yet but STOCK UP ON FOOD! Find shelter! The Waves will hit California next year- the Tsunami is coming! The saddest part of it- is most the liberals in California caused it all by themselves - Too bad California will be the first domino to fall- we will all go down after and its probably too late to stop it!
Your state is a boil on the **** of the United States and now that boil is looking towards other states for financial help, heaven forbid you live within your means and balance your budget. The amazing part is that most of you are completely oblivious to your standing with other states or how the rest of the population sees you. Enjoy!
    Ha Ha Ha!!!

For living in the "best" state.... an awful lot of Californians relocate here to Colorado.

(According to @Snarky we're not the only state to receive an influx of people with lots of real estate equity and no job.)

Who gets to determine who is "best" anyway? You? Something tells me you're a bit biased.

You have some of the most polluted cities in the nation... you Californians are certainly best at shltting in your own nest.

And you are the only state I am aware of that has "rolling blackouts." The only other places in the world that have those.... are in India and the Middle East.

As far as beaches... keep them. Florida has better ones. Hawaii has INFINITELY better ones (and better surf). As far as the earthquakes... you can keep those too.

As far as coastline.... my vote goes to Maine.

And as for mountains.... we've got more of them here in Colorado.... and they are bigger too. (Shasta and Whitney would simply take their place with 54 OTHER 14K ft mountains if they were located here.)

The most beautiful forests are found in Oregon, Washington (temperate rain forest)... and up the Appalachians (the Hemlock forests and the Great Smoky Mountains).

In other words... you're the worst kind of arrogant American.... the kind that hasn't even traveled HIS OWN country enough to realize that he's being a self-important, ignorant fool.
Well when California falls into the Pacific Arizona will be prime beach front property. And Oregonians are liberal for the most part. It's good you love your state. Like they say there's no place like home. I think Cal. is cool because you can go there and watch all the wierdos.
I live in California, the problem are the entitled spoiled citizens who live off the welfare state and it's bankrupting the state. Other states are getting mad because if a Federal Bail out happens, it becomes taxation with out representation.
    Guess what ?

I live in Washington and we hate Oregon and California because you idiots down in CA moved up here and drove home prices through the roof.

Bankrupt your own damn state and leave ours alone, will YA ??
Yes sounds like a great vacation. Except you have earth quakes and your economy sucks and everything is expensive out there. And you call other states "insignificant."
Well for starters you can do that in the east coast as well ! they just don't have all the tree huggers, gays and weirdos ! Oh and they are the furthest in debt either !
Maybe because Californians think those other states are insignificant.
    They hate liberals.

    Jealousy I guess
Too bad you are so far in debt that you have to look up to see bottom.
    Oregonis more liberal than CA
What do you mean they hate them? Did you get word of an invasion?
    LOL!

Im with Daniel. i live in Florida, and you suck.

What are good reasons to live in Arizona?

I'm pretty interested in moving to Phoenix. What are some good reasons to move there? Some categories I would like to know about are: The weather, health issues (cold and flu season), the landscape (where are some green places to live where there are not mountains), entertainment, and so on. Thanks to all who answer! What are good reasons to live in Arizona?
The weather is nice most of the year (chilly in the winter, but rarely before freezing), but super hot in the summer. It's often highs of 110-115 in the summer. But, on the bright side, it's nice swimming/pool weather. There's a cold and flu season here in AZ just like there is everywhere else in the country. As for landscape, Phoenix is all desert, there's no green areas. The only green places in AZ are in the mountains where there's pine trees. Unless you count cacti as green. There's lots of entertainment in Phoenix-it's a huge city....There's lots of sports teams located in Phoenix -Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey. I don't know...lots of malls, movie theatres, restaurants-the same sort of entertainment you find in any city.

Oh, PS, the poster above me has a good point. Phoenix is only about 5-6 hours from LA, 4 hours from San Diego, and I think 5 hours to Vegas. So, road trips over weekends happen a lot. What are good reasons to live in Arizona?
You will never be cold. What are good reasons to live in Arizona?
You are close to California. You are close to Las Vegas. It is really sunny.

What kind of weather does AZ get?

Does Arizona get hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes? I am trying to find out what kind of weather AZ has... Also does it snow in any parts of AZ?What kind of weather does AZ get?
    Hurricanes?

    Impossible.

    Tornadoes?

    It's possible, but unlikely.

    Earthquakes?

That is not related to weather my friend. Last Easter in 2010 there was a 7.2 quake southeast of San Diego. Some people here felt it, but most others did not.

    Snow?

Of course in the higher elevations similar to Flagstaff and the mountains above Tucson. What kind of weather does AZ get?
    hurricanes, no. tor, no

    earth, no

    dust storms, you bet........

dry heat over 110 in the late summer

    snow in Flagstaff in Winter,

we got it all but earth rocking and twisters. What kind of weather does AZ get?
No natural disaster only 100+ heat

What is the weather like in the following states:?

    Arizona

    California

    Florida

    Oklahoma

I'm planning on going to college in one of those states and i've never visited any of them

Or is there a website that can tell me? I've tried googling it and nothing came up.What is the weather like in the following states:?
    check out sites below.

    Florida is hot and humid.

Arizona is very hot and dry.

California - depends on where you are.

    Oklahoma - tornados.

I would select the best college 1st then decide on location/weather.

Or, depending on city college is in, research that city and it's annual temperatures, things to do etc.
Massachusetts is 74 degrees todayWhat is the weather like in the following states:?
Arizona usually hits around 105 Cali usually in the 70's in the winter months and 90's in the summer

Floriday is usually the same as cali but has a lot of rain storms

    Oklahoma sorry coudlnt tell you
    http://www.weatherbase.com/

you can look up the average temperature, precipitation, snowfall, etc. by the city and state.

hope this helps! What is the weather like in the following states:?
Since these are big states where the weather varies from place to place, you'll get the most accurate information by looking at particular cities. To do this:

    1. Make a list of the cities with schools you're considering

    2. Go to weather.com (http://www.weather.com/)

    3. Type in the city and state. On the next screen, look for the link near the top called 'Averages and Records' (it's in with the yesterday | today | current, etc. links).

    4. This will give you average temperatures by month, precipitation information, plus a good selection of weather facts.

Here's an example for San Francisco:

    http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreatio鈥?/a>
They call Florida "The Sunshine State" for a reason. It's sunny and green, with blue skies and lots of lakes and water - especially with beaches within an hour of any part of the state.

It's humid in the summer, but the moisture makes tropical environment green and lush gardens and landscapes. If you love water, beaches, %26amp; outdoor fun, Florida is great!

Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?

My aunt is getting a new dog but has no idea what breed to get. She lives in northern arizona where it snows alot in the winter , and in the summer its really hot. She has two cats and doesn't want a dog that hates cats. What are a couple of breeds that fit this description?Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?
Bichon Frise's are the greatest dog's. They are great with everyone, including cats.
A good idea would be an adult mixed breed dog that has been shown to be good around cats. I have two dogs that were shelter animals and they both were raised with cats and now we have one cat and they don't bother him at all. It's hard with the extreme climate changes. Stay away from anything such as a pug which may have trouble in the heat due to breathing difficulties.Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?
I recently adopted a rat terrier x pointer mix from the animal shelter, and she loves cats. She has shortish fur, so its easy to maintain, and a good guard dog. She goes along well with my cat, so a pointer mix might be an option?
Corgi's I've heard get along with cats. There a herding dog that at one time was presented to the Queen of England as a Royal pet. There a tough little breed of dog, Very Intelligent. These dogs make great house dogs.Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?
All of them..dogs are not naturally mean to cats and all dogs can stand the hot and cold no matter what any body else says...trust me ask my professor..

What is the nicest city in california or florida or arizona to live in?
Florida really has everything you want but in different areas. It will be difficult to council everything in a single place. If what you're looking for is a provincial life, really calm, then you'll have to avoid big cities and the beach. Counties like Polk and Suwannee are great places, quiet and warm. Lakeland and Pembroke Pines are also nice medium-sized towns.
Arizona can be a good solution for you here. I will address each of your questions separately.

    1) Not huge, not tiny: You will find many cities like that in Arizona. It just depends on what makes you comfortable. Tempe is really nice and is where I live at the moment. It is fairly large but not overly so. There is lots of things to do and things are pretty spread out so you can breath somewhat. I would definitely recommend for you to live in the East Valley for the size city you're looking for such as Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, or even Scottsdale. Many of the homes in these areas are very nice and very family friendly and hardly any crime at all. In fact Mesa made headlines as the most boring city in America because it stays out of the news, which is a good thing to me.

    2) Mid Range

Many of the homes are affordable, especially in this market. We had a huge housing boom some years back and we have lots of foreclosures so you probably can find a good deal on a home in your price range.

    3) Friendly

Contrary to what many believe there are a great deal of wonderful people here who are very cordial and go out of their way to be nice to you. Many cities here are very family friendly.

    4) Motocross and skateboarding

We've got ya covered! There are many different tracks you can go to that are not that far away and you can go out to the desert and the mountains to ride as well, since a lot of the land doesn't have restrictions. Much of the land and tracks for motocross are an hour or less away. There are skateboarding parks around as well although they are not so plentiful as far as I know. I know they are around though.

    5) Nice weather year round

Arizona has a reputation for a reason. Why do you think everyone comes here during the winter? Usually most of the year is very nice and yes we do have very hot summers but A/C can fix that and there are many swimming parks around. We make it very tolerable to live in heat and I don't think anyone spends time in the sun, many of us are very pale actually. We all make do and stay in the shade. When the fall, winter, and spring come along it's very nice although it always seems too short and then it warms up again.

Plus: Magic Mountain is moving here in a year or so!

Re SINUSITIS: Can you detect a weather change by a change in your symptoms?

My sinusitis seems to be exquisitely sensitive to weather changes. An increase in symptoms when the weather is going to get "bad" (decreased barometric pressure, fall in temp, clouds, rain or a decrease in symptoms when the weather "improves" (higher pressure, warmer temps and some humidity in the air, few or no clouds, sunny) This is similar to people with arthritis being able to tell when it is going to rain. I can usually sense this as far ahead as the night before for the following day's weather or in as short a time as less than one hour!!!! Needless to say, those who do not know about sinusitis think this is unbelievable and, therefore, I am kinda crazy. Has anyone dealt with this? ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED!

P.S. Thanks to ALL who answered my question last week about best climates for sinusitis. Hard to choose a best answer. I have lived in Arizona and found that to be the worst for my allergies/sinusitis due to the extreme dryness, high pollen %26amp; wind.Re SINUSITIS: Can you detect a weather change by a change in your symptoms?
The tissue in your nose and sinuses are very delicate and it is very common for people to have increase in nasal and sinus symptoms when the weather changes. I have found that the best medication for treating this condition is a nasal steroid spray, like Flonase or Nasonex. It is available only by prescription- there is no over the counter equivalent. With regular use, these medications help a lot. Good luck.
all i can say is -- get used to it! i had t horribly when i lived in michigan -- so severe that one DO told me the only thing to cure it was - move ; ) years later i did - to florida - jacksonville. well the first three years were glorious, the 4th okay and now in the 6th - yeah, it's back! for dry passages -- saline spray. tylenol sinus is good too but.... i try to stay away frm too many meds as my system build up immunities to them quickly. i just go with the flow. today is exceptionally horrible - we have an "ernesto" in the area so....

i just take it as a "gift" - i always know when to make sure the umbrella is in the car/breifcase and have the windows shut LOL

this sounds "icky" but the saline nasal washes are great too. just make sure you're alone when you do them ; )Re SINUSITIS: Can you detect a weather change by a change in your symptoms?
Ok, I've never heard of sinusitis, but when I was a kid, a sudden drop in the pressure (barometer) would make my nose gush blood. I'd say, "It's gonna rain now"(as I grabbed my nose and pinched it shut), and before they could disagree (and they intended to), rain would come pouring down. It was that fast. Anytime a sudden downpour came, my nose bled. Profusely.

So, it could be worse than being 'sensitive'. It could be... 'I HATE THIS!'
I suffered from horrible allergic rhinitis and sinus infections for years until an advice nurse at Kaiser Permanente suggested that I eliminate all chocolate from my diet. It seems that the acid or alkali can cause symptoms.

Since then, I have had one sinus infection and that was following a cold/bronchitis/upper respiratory thingy. Try it! Good luck and may God bless.Re SINUSITIS: Can you detect a weather change by a change in your symptoms?
Your sinuses, like everyone else's, are affected by changes in air pressure. For some people, this isn't a problem; for some of us, it is. My husband always gets severe sinus problems when the air pressure changes.

I know they do not do well in heat, does anyone own one and how is your dog handling the weather, have there been any problems or should I not be worried about this? ThanksDoes anyone own a French Bulldog in Sedona Arizona?
I don't own a French Bulldog, but Sedona's not that hot. It's nothing like Phoenix, and you can always keep it in the AC for a good part of the day. Or you could just get a rez dog...

Think about something your mother would wear....

Bella doesn't seem like the type that goes out to shop, so maybe a dress she borrowed from her mother would be a good choice. (Meaning, describe it as such...)

    Weather in Montpellier, France?

I'm going to study in Montpellier, France next semester from January to June and I was wondering what the weather is like during that time since it'll be way different from the Arizona weather I'm used to. Basically, I wanted to know what kind of jacket I should take. Any advice is much appreciated :)Weather in Montpellier, France?
Differences in temperature will vary according to where in Arizona you live.
Compared to Arizona, especially on the western side, temperatures in Montpellier are lower especially from January to April. In May it gets much warmer and it is hot in June so you would not need to wear a jacket for those months.
At the moment the temperature hovers around 9 degrees C and it gets colder in January so you would need a warm coat for that time of the year and clothes that you can wear in layers that you can peel off if you get too warm. It also is wet in the winter and early spring.
You can see the forecasts before you go on here:
    http://uk.weather.yahoo.com/france/langu鈥?/a>
You can also check your own location on the same site to compare.
Bon voyage, and enjoy your studies!

    Edit.
There is an average year round weather chart and a lot of background information on Montpellier on here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montpellier

At the moment there are freak cold spells all over France.Weather in Montpellier, France?
Montpellier has a warm temperate climate with more than three hundred days of sunshine every year.

From January to May the average temperate ranges from 44潞F to 64潞F. Springtime is a beautiful season to visit the city and its surrounding area as the heady early scents and blossoms are quite beautiful. It is warm enough to eat al fresco on the terrace, at a pavement caf茅 or on the beach. People are sunbathing and start swimming as early as April in the sea.

June to September sees the warmest temperatures averaging 67潞F. There is often twelve hours of sunshine every day, but with a breeze which makes the heat bearable and the wind surfers very happy! You can sit outside in shorts into the night and many outdoor festivals take place in Montpellier during this time. The sea is warm and many people spend their time lazing on the beach and swimmingWeather in Montpellier, France?

What are the most affordable non-expensive, with best weather...public "UNIVERSITIES" in the following states?

I am looking for the best choices of Universities in states such as: California, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, texas, Louisiana, and Florida. The warm weather, affordable, public university in an area with job opportunity is greatly searched. 9. University of Central Florida -- Orlando, Fla. $3,180

http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/coll鈥?/a>What are the most affordable non-expensive, with best weather...public "UNIVERSITIES" in the following states?
The prices quoted in the previous answer are for in-state tuition rates (at least for the state of Florida). To qualify for Florida resident tuition rates, you must have lived in the state of Florida for at least 12 months and have the documents necessary to prove it (driver's license, vehicle registration, and voter's registration). If you are under the age of 24, you must provide your parent's residency information to qualify.

The state universities in Florida will be some of the best values in the state. I'm partial, but I recommend Florida International University in Miami, which offers over 280+ degree programs and its location in a major metropolitan city offers lots of job opportunities.

Good luck! What are the most affordable non-expensive, with best weather...public "UNIVERSITIES" in the following states?
Oregon has wet and cold winters. Northern New Mexico and northern Arizona have cold winters.

Northern California has wet and cool winters. Northern and central Texas have cold winters.

Southeastern Texas (Houston) is probably the best combination for warm climate and the opportunity for employment. Check out public universities in that area. However, they will all be more expensive than your state university unless you are a Texas resident. I cannot give more specific information as I do not know what is affordable for you or anything about your academic qualifications.
Orebon and Texas are good states wit hwarn weather and good public universities.

DO a google search on these state colleges and you will be fine..

You need to go into the bios to change the time. When you start your computer, look in the upper right corner for setup, that will tell you the key to enter bios.Restart your computer and press that key when you see your screen, time should be at the very top.As far as the weather goes, you'll have to go into that programs options and change your zip code or city.
For windows os- set clockIf you have the time being displayed on the lower right side of the Microsoft Windows taskbar, you can easily access the Microsoft's Date and Time Properties from it. All you have to do is double-click on the time and this will open it.

    * (You can also right-click on the time display)

You should check the “Time Zone” tab of the Date and Time Properties to be sure you have it set correctly. You can also place a check by the “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes”, if needed.

You can also set your computer clock to automatically synchronize through the Internet by selecting this option under the “Internet Time” tab on the properties window.

Don't know about the weather. It is on my start page, so by using the time zone tab, it should do this for the weather? How do I change these two things on my computer.....The time and the weather?
I am using Windows Vista Home, Classic theme. If you are using some other version of Windows, or some other operating system, or even the same version of Vista but a different theme, these instructions won't work for you.

    Left-click the Start button.

On the menu, left-click Control Panel.

On the Control Panel, left-click the "Clock, Language, and Region" link.

Left-click the "Change the time zone" link, to bring up the "Date and Time" dialog box.

On the "Date and Time" tab of the "Date and Time" dialog box, click the "Change time zone..." button.

Your time zone probably reads "(GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US %26amp; Canada). Left-click the dropdown arrow to reveal the list of choices.

From the list, select "(GMT-7:00) Arizona"

Make sure the box that says "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time" is checked.

    Left-click the OK button.

On my computer, changing date and time doesn't do anything useful. The computer is set to get those from the internet every now and then. That could be changed from the "Date and Time" dialog box too (which you still have displayed on your screen if you've followed the above directions to the letter). I recommend that you get your date and time from the internet too.

On the "Date and Time" dialog box, click the "Internet Time" tab. On my computer it says "This computer is set to automatically synchronize with 'time.windows.com'. Next synchronization: 11/15/2008 at 5:56 PM"

    Click "Change settings..."

Click "Continue" when the warning pops up.

This opens the "Internet Time Settings" dialog box.

On the "Internet Time Settings" dialog box, check the "Synchronize with an Internet time server" checkbox.

From the dropdown list for Server, select "time.windows.com"

    Left-click the "Update now" button.

    Click OK

This will bring you back to the "Date and Time" dialog box.

    Left-click the "OK" button.

    Enjoy.

Edit: You can't change the weather using your computer. Sorry, Arizona is warm and dry. Messing with your computer won't make it any cooler or more humid.

    Which state has better weather?

Would you say that Florida or Arizona has better weather? Considering the humidity factor, I would say Arizona. But I've never been to AZ, so what do you say?Which state has better weather?
I prefer the AZ weather. I like dry heat cool nights. Florida is just too hot and humid for me.
Yes, humidity should be a factor in your decision, but how about HURRICANES? That would be my determining factor. Arizona gets hot - super hot, like 115+, but there isn't much chance of being washed away there. :)Which state has better weather?
I hate to say it - but it's personal preference. I prefer Florida to Arizona, because AZ can get SO DARN HOT... However, AZ has drier heat than FL, whcih tends to be more humid because so much of it borders water. Florida is gorgeous in my opinion, the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico in FL are the absolute best. If you like Mexican/South West design, jewelry and decor, AZ may be the right choice for you though.
Actually the tropical regions have the best weather becuase it hardly ever changes during the summer.Which state has better weather?
AZ. to hot and dry. FL good hot but hummid
    I'm in Arizona right now.

Let me put it this way -115degree temp get old really, really fast. Now try dealing with it for 2 weeks staight.

So the difference between FL and AZ is in arizona you sweat more but it evaporates a lot faster, in FL you sweat less but it tends to "stick" more.
    arizona
If it's still an option, CA is the best.

How do I deal with this arizona heat?

Well I live in phoenix, arizona and it's so hot! It gets above 115 degrees and I'm pretty sure it'll get hotter. I don't think people were made for this weather. :/ and my family isn't that wealthy so our air conditioner can't be that high. Don't get me wrong winters are beautiful here but how do I cool down in this blazing heat??:/How do I deal with this arizona heat?
    Avoid mid day heat outdoors.

When you must be out in the sun wear sunscreen, hat, and have water with you.

Wear cool clothing made of natural fibers

    Keep hydrated

If you can't keep your home cool enough consider going to a movie, the mall, or somewhere indoors that is air conditioned.

Good luck to you - It won't stay this hot all summer
First off, I'm in London, so not Arizona. But it's getting very hot here too and so I've been looking in to how to stay healthy. As other people have said, you've got to keep hydrated. People should be drinking 6 - 8 glasses of water a day anyway, whether you're in AZ or not. But in baking temperatures like yours I suggest drinking a bit more.

Bear in mind that caffeinated drinks - coffee, sodas - are mild diuretics, so they'll make you want to pee. Don't assume that they're substitutes for regular water. You should also keep emergency bottles of water in any vehicles you own; you don't want to be stuck in traffic without anything to do drink. How do I deal with this arizona heat?
try to stay in low shaded areas like basements, but honestly ill trade climates i live in new England and our heat is very thick and humid, miserable sweaty, 75 degrees here feels the same as your 100 degrees with the humidity, and not to mention our winters go below 0 and make life miserable by coldness/lowering car value from abuse/ cracking roads and new england always looks dumpy "the grass is always greener" no matter where u live the climate u live in will irritate you after a few years
Drink lots of water because its also really dry here

and try not to go out in the afternoon until at least 7 because the hottest time of the day is usually around 4. Usually the East and North sides of the house are coolest in the afternoon.

Also, maybe you can go swimmingHow do I deal with this arizona heat?
If I could, I would buy one of those cars that you can remotely start. Then you could start the a/c in your car before you get in!! Tint your car windows! Buy on of those wheel covers!!!

Also go to place to can hang out all day in doors like a Mall or Movies.

Swim in a shaded pool or at night!

Try a nice glass of cold white wine! lol!
I would say wear very little clothing, but thats my advice to women even in cold weather. lol

  • I'm moving to Arizona in a month, and am wondering how much cold weather clothing I will actually need?

I'm originally from California, moved to Texas a year ago, and away we go to Arizona to settle in. I know Arizona is hot. When things cool down in the winter, what do YOU wear? I'm packing and wondering if I'll actually need 17 pairs of pants? In CA and when it's been warm here in TX I wear dresses all the time, as well as shorts. When it gets cold here in TX sweaters and pants/jeans do the job. Will they still have a job in AZ? Truly, I need help before I load the moving truck with tubs of winter clothes never to see the light of day again. HELP??!!I'm moving to Arizona in a month, and am wondering how much cold weather clothing I will actually need?
it all depends on where, if Northern, then LOTS of winter clothing, i was just there a few weeks ago and it was in the 50's and 60's, and where i was stayin about an hour south in Phoenix it was a 110 degrees, so a good amount of winter clothes if your in north arizona or plan on going there allot, and in Tucson or Phoenix, LOTS of summer clothes, and a few light winter clothes, but be sure to bring a few heavy winter clothes incase you get tired of the heat and want to take a vacation an hour or 2 up north in north ArizonaI'm moving to Arizona in a month, and am wondering how much cold weather clothing I will actually need?
What you've been wearing in Texas and California will do just fine in Arizona. Although northern Arizona can experience pretty chilly weather for a brief time in mid-winter, it's not like you were moving to Minnesota. Just be aware that the winter winds north of old Route 66 can be pretty biting. I lived north of Winslow on the Hopi reservation for awhile, and loved it - didn't need tons of winter clothing, even on the mesa where Orabi is located.I'm moving to Arizona in a month, and am wondering how much cold weather clothing I will actually need?
I put on a sweater and I'm good too go. If you're chilly, your probably won't need more than long sleeves and a jacket to warm you up. It gets to be around 40 F at the lowest.
You didn't say where in AZ?

Different parts of AZ have completely different climates. Flagstaff is at 7,000 feet elevation and gets snow.

Phoenix is ~100 miles south and half a world away with regard to climate.

Assuming you mean the greater Phoenix area, in the winter the temps can drop into the 30's at night - but that is very rare. In January a light jacket, pants are enough for most people at night. During the day (winter) the temps will get into the 70s.

Once you become acclimated the winters will seem freezing. When I lived there my next door neighbor used to wear a down coat in the winter months. Me, coming from Colorado, I wore a heavy shirt.

i know arizona hot and stuff my uncle live there but he loves it but i wondering what would the weather half to do for it to be a blizzard in phoenix arizona i need to knowWhat would half to happen for phoenix arizona to have a blizzard?
As previously mentioned, a large polar mass would need to move south. You need the 540 critical thickness line well south of Phoenix, as well as 850mb freeze line. You would need to have a cool enough atmosphere and surface, with plenty of moisture to work with, to support snow.
I'm not sure about a blizzard but it has snowed in Phoenix in the past. It has snowed in Yuma and Tucson also. There have been blizzards in Flagstaff and it even dipped to -35 degrees. Of course you understand that Flagstaff is at 7,000 feet. All it would take is for a continental polar air mass to move unusually far south and west. What would half to happen for phoenix arizona to have a blizzard?

My Mom went to Arizona and got a nosebleed?

Is it because the weather was so dry or humid?

What is the best way to avoid another accident like that when she goes to Arizona? My Mom went to Arizona and got a nosebleed?
It is really dry there. She could pick up a bottle of saline spray to use as a mositurizer for her nasal passages. It is harmless and inexpensive and sold at any drug store. My Mom went to Arizona and got a nosebleed?
She is getting a nosebleed because the vessels in her nose (an artery, actually) is close to the surface. Dry skin will crack in the nose (just like anywhere on your body) and this artery will burst.

The thing that I have found works the best (and an ENT doctor confirmed this) is to swab a light gel into your nose at least twice a day (morning and night). There is one called Ayr that works, but that is too light for me - it dries up too fast. I prefer something like Polysporin - just put some on a Q-Tip (TM) and swab it into each nostril. Haven't had a nosebleed in 2 years doing this.

(FYI, hotels are AWFUL for dry air. Run the shower for a while each night to humidify the room."My Mom went to Arizona and got a nosebleed?
Probably because the air is dry and it dried out her nasal lining, which caused a little blood vessel to break and gave her a nosebleed. Try a humidifier to keep the air moist.

I want to spend the winter Nov 1st to March 31st in Arizona..?

Anyone have any suggestions on which would be the best part of Arizona to spend the winter months, considering the weather, rental property cost, things to do for retirees.

Thanks in advanceI want to spend the winter Nov 1st to March 31st in Arizona..?
That depends on your activities, though I'd suggest the following:

Phoenix - main city, lots to do, good winter weather

Tucson - large city, not quite as much to do, good winter weather

Bullhead City/Kingman - Close to Laughlin - good winter weather

Rental costs are relatively cheap in Arizona and it's great if you like the outdoors. It only lacks a beach though there are several lakes worth visiting, and it has the Grand Canyon! Then there's big city activities that are not hampered by freezing weather. Sorry I can't help any further, I'd need to know more about what you like.I want to spend the winter Nov 1st to March 31st in Arizona..?

It is pretty damn hot, and the air is bad. See here: http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/americ鈥?/a>
Extremely warm... expect it to reach the 100's in the afternoon and cool down to about 85 at night. The sun typically beats down on you pretty hard, but since its a dry heat if you can find some shade you'll survive.

Make sure you drink plenty of water! It's easy to get dehydrated in the desert. What is the usual weather for phoenix?
Should be around 100 by late afternoon, but it will be about the most comfortable 100 you're ever gonna feel. Will probably get to the low 70s early in the a.m.

HOT in the morning, HOTTER by 10AM, OMFG HOT by 4PM, then it cools down into the 80's at night.
Most likely in the 90's-100's. Its always blazing hot there
when your not at the wedding wear a light t shirt and shorts cause it will be around 103 to 110 degrees
    The air isnt that bad

Why should the Equator, Florida and Arizona get all the warm weather?

What about our rights in the colder climates? Are we not GOOD enough to be warm? Why does the world hate us so much? Why should we be left in the cold. Why should we let the cold climophobes oppress us like this? They have even brainwashed the Copenhagen people into thinking they like their cold climate! I think that's just wrong and I even CHEW Copenhagen! We will not be relegated to living in frigid squalor while everyone else has their day in the sun. Now I'm getting hot under the collar and that is hard to do in Ohio in December! We will fight this, and we will win!Why should the Equator, Florida and Arizona get all the warm weather?
Don't worry Booth. It is just as impossible for liberals to cause global cooling as it is for the rest of us to cause global warming. We could all go vegan and start riding our bikes to work and it won't change anything - other than making us tired and hungry for a steak.
it's because the earth is a sphere. If the earth would have been a cube, you'd have 4 sides of identical weather, but two huge poles - north and south, that are covered with ice.Why should the Equator, Florida and Arizona get all the warm weather?
It is cold. I wish global warming were true. But if the environmentalists get their way, it is only going to get colder.
Plus I want a polar bear to stuff and put in the living room. Should I hurry and go before they are all gone? Why should the Equator, Florida and Arizona get all the warm weather?
    Here here spread the warmth!
Hey the key thing people first notice when the sun shuts down like it is now is just how much colder it gets in northern climate zone with no nearby deep ocean to keep you warm. This is why my Grandfather moved all of the family that follow him to LA in 1946. The rest of the family has moved away because of one reason or another, but he told me and I now see coming for sure what he saw then. He just did not realize there was another small warm blip coming in 1998.

Some scientific information revealing the truth about global warming, when it happened and what probably caused it. And as well how many years, centuries or millennia it might be before the world warms up again from the coming ice age.

I was looking into Northern Arizona University. I heard that there isn't much to do in Flagstaff and that the weather is freezing.I am looking into NAU. What is the social life and weather like?
If you like outdoor activities Flagstaff offers hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, horseback riding and rock climbing. If you like indoor activities you can choose movies, plays, shopping, eating, roller skating, standard nightlife activities and walks in the park.

As for the weather, Flagstaff has an average of 288 days of sunshine per year. The temperatures in the winter are cold but not bitterly cold. There are distinct seasons and the surrounding area is beautiful.

I have a bullmastiff and I am curious to know how they do in hot weather.?

I understand the mastiff breeds do not do well in extreme heat or cold weather. I noticed many of the breeders are in states where it snows. I wonder if a bullmastiff would be OK in dry heat. Specifically an area such as Modesto or Merced or even Arizona. The summers get quite hot (around 103-107 degrees). Would it not be wise to allow the dog to leave the air conditioned home? I would only be in the area for a couple days this summer but wondered if that would harm my dog. She is an adult bullmastiff. Thank you.I have a bullmastiff and I am curious to know how they do in hot weather.?
She should be fine. Water, plenty of shade, minimal exercise. Don't leave her in the car of course. Mine LOVE the AC. They'll sit right by the vents and sleep. I'd say, if you can leave her home and cool. If you happen to be by a beach that allows dogs, some love to cool off.I have a bullmastiff and I am curious to know how they do in hot weather.?
If its a bullmastiff or a chihuhua, heat isnt good for any dog. I live in northern california, and during the summer, we leave the air on for our yorkie and pitbull, and they are both inside dogs.I have a bullmastiff and I am curious to know how they do in hot weather.?
On the hot days, keep him in the shade and also rub cold water/ ice cubes on his chest. A Bull mastiff isn't known to have an high energy level, so your exercise will be minimal anyways.
I have to agree with sniffy. I have aNeapolitan Mastiff and pretty much the same rules apply. Plenty of water, shade, and minimal exercise. They tend to drool a lot also so I always keep a towel handy.

How can I convince my parents to let me go to Arizona State?

I live in Massachusetts and It is so boring. I dont want to be stuck here anymore. I love arizona and have dreamed my whole life to go there good business school ranked number 25 in the U.S.A. and cheap, and awesome weather, best looking campus in the country, best parties everything but my parents claim that it is too far away and say they would help me financially if i go there. I know I can go there but how do I with there approval. I got accepted last weekHow can I convince my parents to let me go to Arizona State?

How do you like University of Arizona?

I'm deciding where id like to play volleyball and i was thinking of U of A. I was wondering how the student life is, the environment, the weather, and any other cool features of Arizona close to U of A. If anyone has an input please comment.

ThanksHow do you like University of Arizona?
My mom graduated from their law school and I just applied for the fall semester. U of A is a great school, it's always ranked highly (12th among public universities) and from what I understand, there are some amazing parties, Playboy ranked it the number five party school in the country last year, but the academics are still great. In addition, compared to many other schools, the cost is low. The weather is nice, it's always really warm and sunny (aside from 2-3 weeks a year when it rains). The school is somewhat Greek, but you can still have fun if you're not pledging. Tucson is not congested, but it's definitely not rural (about 90 minutes outside of Phoenix) and the campus is huge. If you go, sunglasses and shorts are a must.

Anyone moved from Northern Ohio to Phoenix area Arizona?

Looking to get feedback from anyone who's lived in or from Northern Ohio and moved to Phoenix or a surrounding area. What do you miss from Ohio that Arizona doesn't have? Do you really enjoy the weather? Are the people more friendly, less friendly, etc? Good things? Bad things?Any insight into anyones move would be appreciated.Anyone moved from Northern Ohio to Phoenix area Arizona?
As a child we lived in Streetsboro Ohio of the turn pike. I miss the football games where you had good hometown fans. I don't miss the cold and snow that is for sure. The people I think are more friendly in Arizona in the winter time because the heat draw out the bear in people. I have been here 18 years and love it.
    I miss PANERA BREAD!!

:(Anyone moved from Northern Ohio to Phoenix area Arizona?
The climate is definitely better in Phoenix (apart from the summer) and there are plenty of midwesterners living in Phoenix, so it's a friendly place. The mountains are a big change from flat Ohio.

What you'll probably notice most is the lack of lakes and green in Phoenix. In Ohio, there are trees and water everywhere. It's just part of the landscape. In Phoenix, it's brush, cactus, smaller trees and a desert landscape. Much drier, and very different.
I moved from the Philly area to Peoria (now back in the Poconos in PA).....I absolutely LOVED Arizona, wish I didn't have to leave. Arizona is clean and has the most beautiful flowering trees and bushes. The weather is gorgeous 10 months out of the year...2 months it is very hot, but not nearly as humid...you don't really get HOT until it is 120 or more (but the Arizonians are whiners and complain the whole time)...everyone has central air and most people have built-in pools, so it really isn't bad at all. Most of the people I met had moved from New York or New Jersey or California...hardly met any native Arizonians. I found the people to be friendly. They were really building up the area and I couldn't believe how much was built up since I'd gone 3 years ago when I went back this summer. There are great restaurants and clubs. I missed Philly cheesesteaks and stromboli when I was there, but everything else was great. The roads weren't built to put up will all the additional building, so that was a pain...hopefully they will work on that. Hope this helps!! Good luck!Anyone moved from Northern Ohio to Phoenix area Arizona?
I grew up in the Youngstown area and went to college in Cleveland. I moved to the Phoenix area a couple years after college and have been here about 3 1/2 years.

I miss some family and friends from Ohio, some restaurants, and I miss Cedar Point (there are no devent amusement parks closer than about 4 hours from here and, even then, they are nowhere near as good as Cedar Point).

I love it overall though and I cannot really see myself moving back to Ohio after moving here. The weather is great (the summers here and nowhere near as bad as winters in northern Ohio. You almost never have to adjust your plans for weather (it is sunny over 300 days a year here). I would eake up in Ohio knowing it would be freezing for part of the year. In Phoenix, I wake up knowing it will be warm and thee probably will not be a cloud in the sky.

I love the mountains that surround the city of Phoenix. It's great for outdoors activities (hiking, biking, etc.) and shopping. There are lots of cool places within driving distance (Sedona, Las Vegas, San Diego, LA, Grand Canyon).

I also like how everything is newer here (roads, shopping centers, restaurants, homes) because the city has grown so much in the last 15 years that a lot of it is new. That makes things look a lot nicer and cleaner. The people are about as nice here I'd say. You can meet some snobs depending upon where you go, but there are plenty of nice folks too. There are tons of midwesterners who have moved out here.

Anyway, everyone from Ohio who has visited me here loves it and many have mentioned moving out here. I am very happy that I moved out here and would do it again in a second. Hope this helps...
well i haven't moved to arizona, but i know it definitely doesn't have cedar point.

however, arizona does have nice dry weather, in comparison to ohio's humidity.
Havent exactly moved there, but my cousin lives there and I been there a couple of times and I originate from Toledo, OH. Are you going to be in the desert area or more in the city?
People who live there and are miserable will often tell you good things about the area, because misery loves company. So I don't think you should ask people. Risk of bias is too high.

I live in Brooklyn, New York and I has visited the Phoenix area a couple of times (on my way to Vegas and then LA). Keep in mind, this was in March, so the weather was warm and nice at that time.

The area stands out because of the mountains. If you haven't lived in a place with a mountain backdrop, those darn things always get you.

The city itself isn't very urban at all. Nothing like Cleveland. It consists of a central financial core (downtown), has mid-rise and high-rise apartment buildings on the outer core (Central Phoenix), and then it spreads out like a suburb as far as the eye can see. Just homes, homes, homes homes.

The area, right now, has absolutely NO SOUL. There is no cultural identity to speak of if you're from Phoenix. The only things people there have are the sports teams. If you're not into sports or outdoor activities... good luck.

I was absolutely surprised to find out that Downtown Phoenix was DEAD at 10PM on a weekend. This is because the nightlife is extremely poor there. If you want real nightlife, you need to go to Scottsdale and Tempe (cities which border Phoenix). There is a street called "Mill Avenue" in either Tempe or Mesa, I forgot, I think Mesa. But people say it's the closest thing the 'Valley of the Sun' comes to an urban-looking place.

Me personally, if I were to move to the area, I'd definitely move AWAY from Phoenix. Into an outer suburb, where you're more in tune with the desert environment. The caveat would be the commute though.

Speaking of which, Phoenix is entirely auto-dependant. The city has an extremely weak public transportation system. They're currently building in a light rail system but even that won't happen for a few years from now. Everything is SO spread out. Just like in Los Angeles. You absolutely have to have a car to survive there, unless you live near your job. Wait.. what am I saying? You need food and groceries, which you'll probably need a car to get to anyway!

By the way. In the hottest parts of the summer, the OVER NIGHT temperature will be 90-95'F.

  • What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?

I went there with a buddy of mine years ago to see the Arizona Cardnials training camp. We went from being in Scottsdale at 110 degrees to 70 degree's in Flagstaff. We were at the Northern Arizona State University Campus. I have always wanted to go back there. But, don't have any idea what's theirs to do? Also, what is the weather like there year round? What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
Flagstaff is a great town with lots to see and do...

As a poster above mentioned, it is home to Lowell Observatory where Pluto was discovered in 1930 (it is still an active observatory). They have a nice visitors center on Mars Hill overlooking downtown.

The old historic downtown area contains many buildings from the boom days as a major railroad, lumber and (later) Route 66 stop. Most are now filled with cafes, art galleries, and shops. The old courthouse, the train depot, and the Monte Vista hotel (where some scenes from Casablanca were filmed) are especially interesting.

The Museum of Northern Arizona (north of town toward the Grand Canyon) is an excellent museum with a mix of natural, cultural and Indian art displays.

Riordan Mansion State Park is a giant mansion built out of logs by Flagstaff's early lumber barons and still contains much of the original furniture and furnishings (just of off South Milton near NAU).

Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments are just NE of town along US89 (the road toward Page and Lake Powell). Wupatki is a prehistoric Indian ruin that you can explore and Sunset Crater is an extinct volcanic field with lava flows and cinder cones. This is one of my favorite northern Arizona spots (and often overlooked).

Walnut Canyon National Monument - On the eastern edge of town (along I-40/Route 66). These are prehistoric cliff-dwellings in a very scenic canyon.

Fairfield Snowbowl and the San Francisco Peaks

The San Francisco Peaks (the big mountains north of town) have excellent hiking as well as a developed Ski Resort (the Snowbowl). In winter, there is skiing (when there is enough snow) and in summer you can take the chairlift to the top of the mountain for excellent views.

Mount Elden - Mount Elden is the more lumpy looking mountain close to East Flag with the radio towers on top (much of the trees were burned away during a big fire in the 1970s and have still not recovered yet). There is a great hiking trail starting near the Flagstaff Mall that takes you all the way to the towers at the top for excellent views.

Good places to eat include Beaver Street Brewery (on Beaver Street south of the Railroad), Macy's Coffee Shop (across from Beaver St), Crystal Creek Sandwiches (on South Milton), Oreganos Pizza (same as the Phx chain, on South Milton), Bun Huggers (hamburgers, on South Milton) and Dara Thai (on San Francisco, south of RR tracks).

Flagstaff is at an elevation of 7000 feet, so it stays pretty cool. Summer highs rarely get much past 90 and I doubt it has ever hit 100. Unlike much of Arizona, Flagstaff does have a real winter with snow storms, icy roads and cold weather. Night time lows below zero are not uncommon in winter. But unlike the northeast, winter storms tend to blow over after a day or two, so you don't have long periods of gray and icy weather.
If you like gorgeous scenery, head south a little to Sedona, AZ. There is tons to see there and the weather is decent all year round. It might be a little cold in the winter but it shouldn't be too bad. What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
Take a ride a couple of hours north and visit Monument Valley. Fantastic scenery, where all those old westerns were made.
You might go to Lowell Observatory. They have tours of the old telescopes there, and at night you can look through the telescope at planets and stars. Since Flagstaff is so high up and the skies are so dark, the view through the telescope is often amazing.

Downtown is also nice - lots of great bars and restaurants. I highily recommend the Beaver Street Brewery, and Macy's coffee shop across the street.

The weather is nice in the spring, summer, and fall, but it gets surprisingly cold up in Flagstaff in the winter, and it snows - unusual for the rest of Arizona. What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
I used to live in Phoenix. Go up to the mountains, get on the river and tube down to the bottom. That is awesome. OR you could go in search of the lost gold in the Camelbacks (lost dutchman).

Does Arizona, New Mexico or Nevada have earthquakes, floods, or other weather problems?

Yes, but not to the extent that other places have them. I've lived in New Mexico for 30 years and have only felt one earthquake -- and it was so mild that it caused no damage to anything or anybody. We do have tornados, but I've never seen one in New Mexico. With most of the state being at least half a mile above sea level, floods only happen in close vicinity to rivers or streams (we call them arroyos) after a heavy rain. Smart people just stay away from them; other people drive their cars into them and die.Does Arizona, New Mexico or Nevada have earthquakes, floods, or other weather problems?
Every place has them sweetie!Does Arizona, New Mexico or Nevada have earthquakes, floods, or other weather problems?

Just about every place has some type of weather problem. Some are more deadly, some are just nuisances.

Should we walk the course in 112 degree weather?

Me and my friend Dave have just gotten into golf this summer. We are in Phoenix Arizona and he wants to go out and play a round of golf at Papago golf course this afternoon. He wants us to carry our clubs in 112 degree weather. I say that's stupid and we could come down with heat exhaustion or even heat stroke. What's your opinion ?Should we walk the course in 112 degree weather?
Sorry Charlie....Only the best tuna gets to be Chicken Of the Sea Tuna. As usual your advice reeks of spoiled fish. Tiddlywinks and Barbies seem to be your only comeback.... point is, generally it's not the kids of today that is the problem...it's the parents raising them, much like yourself...void of encouragement and quick to criticize.

Walking the course 112 degree weather this afternoon. We've all been stupid enough to do it..Golf is an addiction to most. When I play in that kind of heat, I go out at the crack of dawn or wait until the sun is descending, even at those times walking and the heat can severely dehydrate you. Drinking water is not enough, you also need electrolytes, sweating loses a lot of potassium and just drinking water can leave you low on sodium. So if you go out bring water and gatorade or some kind of sports drink about 3 of each and drink continuously alternating drinks. Some signs of dehydration are nausea, dizziness, confusion, uncoordination, cramps. Find shade, rest in the shade when waiting. Use a wet towel around your neck to cool down (The Kool Towel...sports cooling towel www.labohemeboutique.com). And if the course is pretty deserted secondary to the heat and you're walking alone with your buddy; bring a cell phone in case you or your buddy become symptomatic and need help returning for medical attention. Ultimately it's your choice, don't let your buddy talk you into it, you know your limits and don't let Charlie Tuna make you feel like a sissy...that's his Modus Operandi MO, makes him feel big to put down the kids, teens, women or even other adults that are new to golf and might not be up to his believed standards here on the golf section. Take caution and keep hydrated, if you're not thirsty...that's the first sign of trouble, if you can spare the cart fee...I'd recommend it, still drinking just as much. Perhaps it is not the whine, but the wisdom of todays youth that questions this.
I'm one of the last of the die-hard golf course walkers, but walking when it's 112 is absolutely insane.

Don't believe that nonsense about "a dry heat". You'll still sweat as much, but your perspiration will evaporate quickly so you won't feel clammy. You'll still become dehydrated very quickly.

Even in a cart, drink lots and lots of (non-alcoholic) liquids.

I've played in Las Vegas when it was only 102, and I wouldn't have even tried it without a cart.Should we walk the course in 112 degree weather?
I play golf in Atlanta weather that has a heat index of 100 degrees sometimes and feel no ill effect.

Just don't drink any beveridge that contains caffeine and put a water bottle in your golf bag and you will be fine. You might consider using a pull cart.I loathe riding carts.
I Live In Mesa Az And Its The Same Weather I Go Into Local Tournaments All The Time Where We Just Walk The Course.. I Say Go For It But Drink 3 Big Cups Of Water Beore You Go And During Or Else While Your Golfing Youll Feel Super Drained And DizzyShould we walk the course in 112 degree weather?
i would not go, thats stupid to walk the course in 112 degree weather. if you go, get a cart and drink plenty of water. and not only that. if you play in that type of heat, you will get to tired fast to actuvally finish
I am surprised the course will allow patrons to play in what sounds like a pending weather advisory. If you must play, take a cart.
Last Wednesday, I showed up at my local golf course and I see there were no golfers on the field. WHY? 118 degree heat index! No one will go out there and play the golf!
I would not recommend it, unless you want to have a heat stroke.
don't go, tell him it's a really bad idea, or you just can't make it, DON'T KILL YOURSELF!
    no get a cart

What is the weather like in AZ during January?

What is the winter weather like in Scottsdale and Phoenix Arizona? What is the weather like in AZ during January?
Perfect! Warm and sunny during the day and pleasantly crisp at night. Visitors walk around in shorts and t-shirts while anyone who has lived here more than a few years is bundled up in parkas and mittens like a South Park kid.
welll. its pretty much thee coldest time of year, and it can be anywere from like 40degrees to 65 degrees. colder in the mornings obviously. What is the weather like in AZ during January?
arizona is honestly one of the best states for the winter months.

it isn't oo cold, but it's not hot.

    perfect weather!
in this area of AZ in january, can be from 65 to 70 during the day, and down to 40 or 45 at night and always cleat this time of yr, the perfect time of yr that timeWhat is the weather like in AZ during January?
    30 to 80 degrees.

Scottsdale is warmer due to the people who think they are it.

Their large butts put out more heat.

Plus you have the illegal Mexicans passing gas which adds to the heat.

    Average temp.65.

We think it's freezing cold. All the visitors walk around in shorts and t-shirts. You wear a sweater in the morning. By 10am you are too hot and have to take the sweater off.

The swimming pools are too cold to swim so the hotel heat them. /

  • How is the weather year round around phoenix arizona?

when does it get cold, what are the tempertaures month after month and the conditions (rainy, sunny, cloudy) out here in nj it gets cold around september, about november people start to wear heavy sweaters and its freezing til the middle of march where it gets warmer...the conditions out here for the summer are mainly wet humid weather where its just a sticky hot, goes from 70 to 90 on average. sometimes with no warmth but just stickiness, in winter its real cold, it snows and the temp is around 30 to 40 on average i would say its mainly cloudy year round....can someone explain it to me like i have explained nj.?How is the weather year round around phoenix arizona?
In the winter the temperature is usually pleasant during the day (60s to 80s), but it can get cold at night (as low as 40 degrees, and occasionally below freezing). In the summer, it can get as hot as 110 to 120 degrees, but the humidity is very low until monsoon season (July through mid-September). It can be humid and rainy during that time. A dry 110 degrees isn't as bad as it sounds, but when it's hot and humid it can get unpleasant. Fortunately that doesn't last too long. Really the biggest problem isn't the weather; it's the air pollution. Phoenix is one of the worst cities in the country for air quality, and there are often high pollution advisories in the summer, usually due to high levels of ozone or particulates. How is the weather year round around phoenix arizona?
I do not like the cold at all and I end up using my fur coat during the winter months, from November to Feb I am in fur. I'm from a hot place and humid place so this heat is wondeerful to me, most people have swimming pools as well so when it is hot you can jump in your pool. How is the weather year round around phoenix arizona?
I sure can. I am originally from NJ and I have lived in Phoenix for many years. The months of June, July, August, until the middle of September are hot like an oven. You need to bring bottled water with you when you go out on the streets. It cools off in late September and is cooler in October, wear a sweater or light jacket. It gets cold in mid to late November. Colder in December. Coldest in January when you have to wear a heavy coat and warm sweaters in the mornings, especially. Starts to warm a little in mid February. Gets springish in March; you smell the orange blossoms. April is the nicest month with daytime temps in the 70's and 80's. May is a lot warmer; you start getting thirsty when you are out. Then the onslought of the summer. Hope this is a good reply.
    Ill explain it two ways

3-4 months of hell and 8-9 months of paradise.

Humidity is only a problem in late july and in august.

Phoenix weather can be broken down into 4 phases.

Jan-March- abit cold- medium jacket for jan, light for Feb-March

April-May- its warming up. always have shorts ready to go. nice as can be outside.

June/July- Hell on earth. You'll be lucky to get a low below 80 at night.

August September- Humidity kicks in- not as bad as back east, but still its hot and humid.(dry heat is better though)

October-November- paradise. get the light jacket out.

I don't think I have ever needed a heavy jacket here in Phoenix, but if you go up to northern AZ- it helps to atleast have a medium jacket.

Visitors from the Northeast for the Superbowl. What do you think about Phoenix and Arizona?

As a former resident of New York. I have lived here for almost 8 years and love every minute of it. The weather, low cost of living, the sites, and so much more. What do you think? For those of you who like what you see here in the Valley of the Sun and Arizona, would you condiser moving to the now fastest growing state in the Unites States?Visitors from the Northeast for the Superbowl. What do you think about Phoenix and Arizona?
Well I moved from San Diego to Pheonix a couple years ago, and I LOVE it here.

Whats the weather like in phoenix, arizona?

around octoberWhats the weather like in phoenix, arizona?
This site gives you the weather averages in Phoenix

http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimato鈥?/a>Whats the weather like in phoenix, arizona?
Still hot. It doesn't start to really cool down here until after Thanksgiving. If your coming from a colder climate, you probably won't need a jacket.

Do you like to live in cold weather of warm weather?

I live in Arizona and it was so nice out today!! Which weather do you like the best? And why?Do you like to live in cold weather of warm weather?
all weather except extremely hot or extremely cold!
I hate the cold weather, especially since I get seasonably depressed during the cold months. I live in Pennsylvania so we get all the seasons, and I love spring the most. I wish I could live in Florida that was were I was born. I know it gets hot there most of the year but I could get used to it.Do you like to live in cold weather of warm weather?
well i don't really care what the weather is, as long as i like the location, but i live in B.C. Canada (on the west coast) and its always rainy in the winter (with some snow but not to often) and hot in the summer, so i like the fall temps. around 15 above 0 :), instead of those miserable 30 degree temps in the summer :(
well i dont like too much warm weather because it gets sticky and sweaty.

and cold weather gets pretty rough... but then again, snow days are amazing :)

i've lived in cold weather all my life, and i get warm weather as well so i like to live in neutral areas such as Ohio.Do you like to live in cold weather of warm weather?
I live in Arizona as well. Although, I love the cold the best and the reason for that is because I believe snow is beautiful, along with liking the feeling of a "chill" running through my body. Also I enjoy snuggling in a blanket when I'm cold. ? :)
i like to live in warm weather because i love to see the sunshine..it was very sweet.espcially when you go to thebeach.besides, i live in malaysia which normally people known it as warm country..do you know about malaysia?
Cool weather, I don't like the heat or humidity. Spring and Autumn are my favorite times of year, not too hot, not too cold.
I've always lived in warm Florida, but even here it's flurrying.
Cold in winter, hot in summer
Warm weather. Because it's been freezing for 2 weeks in NYC.
    warrrrrrrmmmmmmm

    :)

What to wear while visiting in Arizona?

I'm traveling to Tucson, Arizona to see some family for the first time and I have no idea what the weather is like there but hot. I heard its not humid so does that mean you don't sweat there? Is it to hot to wear jeans? Should I wear shorts? What to wear while visiting in Arizona?
Sunscreen. And nothing else. Well, maybe flip-flops to keep your feet from getting scorched.

    But seriously...

You will sweat. A lot. Use deodorant, NOT antiperspirant (if you use anything). And plenty of sunscreen.

If you plan on spending time outdoors, avoid black and dark colors, jeans. Keep your hair up. Anything else goes.

Of course, if you plan on staying indoors, or at the mall, or up in the hills, then don't worry about any of this. What to wear while visiting in Arizona?
It might not be humid in Arizona but it is hot like an oven! Bring tons of sunscreen. Bring hats, sunglasses, and anything to give you shade. Wear clothes like shorts, short shorts, skirts, capris, tank tops, capris, flip flops, just bring light jackets or hoodies incase. What to wear while visiting in Arizona?
Get some cotton long sleeved shirts, at least if you sunburn easily. Hats, sunglasses, and shorts. Don't even bother bringing jeans, even when it's "cold" there, it's like, 75 degrees.

  • Should I move to Arizona or to New Mexico?

I am in love with desert landscape, and I like hot weather too. After law school should I move to Arizona or New Mexico? Which is better?Should I move to Arizona or to New Mexico?
NM is cold in the the winter in just about any city worth living in, but has more a significant culture and history. AZ is warmer in the south and has some cool sites and Phoenix/Mesa/Scottsdale is a cool young town. Politically if you are more "liberal" you should go with NM, although AZ is starting to move away from the dark side as well.

Does anyone else notice that the weather this year in the US is colder than the previous years?

I live in Arizona and even people here are wearing jackets (which is quite unusual). I have a friend in Tampa, Florida who tells me that it is colder than it was in the previous years.

Also not to mention the weather in the Northeast which is brutal right now. Any explanation?Does anyone else notice that the weather this year in the US is colder than the previous years?
They say that Global Warming could also bring on a mini ice age.

43 degrees today in St Pete Florida

    Going down to 32 tonight

With not let up all week.

It has most definitely gotten a lot colder in Florida during the winter
There are a couple of reasons for this. One is because we are in a general cooling cycle. The earth isn't a static place, and has warm and cool cycles

The second reason is that we are in a deep solar minimum. This means that there are fewer to no sunspots. As a result, there is less of the sun's energy making it to earth.

Here is a link to a NASA article on the deep solar minimum:

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/鈥?/a>Does anyone else notice that the weather this year in the US is colder than the previous years?
That is TRUE...Many times I waited for NEW YEAR at Disney only in shirt short sleeves, but feeling the cold weather in St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) I did not go this year....!! Then, the Global warming is no true.
El Nino is effecting the weather in the United States this winter. I have lived in Pennsylvania for 50 years, this winter is the way winter used to be when I was young, the winters here have been mild for the last 10 - 15 years.Does anyone else notice that the weather this year in the US is colder than the previous years?
Well - things like this happen all the time. Unfortunately - overall - the forests of the NW are being destroyed by the bark beetles because our weather just ISN'T cold enough anymore. Our glaciers are also melting...

So enjoy your cooler weather while you can.
Global warming is the general long term trend (years).

Global Climatic Change would be a more accurate description of what is going on over shorter periods (months) and in more local conditions.

You should expect greater fluctuations in local weather conditions.
Last I heard the global warming advocates picked up on that before anyone else.
No, it's just getting colder everywhere! Orlando was only 18 this morning.
its all my fault, this is my punishment for moving back to virginia from sunny warm california. sorry to the rest of ya! my bad!
It should not be because of global worming witch is warming up the earth.
to me, where i live, it seems as though this is the hottest winter we have ever had!
Contrary to what global warming *maniacs* say, the CO2 levels are dropping. This promotes cold weather.

    And also, get a jacket.

Does the winter weather make you depressed?

I hate that fall and winter are going to be coming back soon. The winter weather makes me extremely depressed. Its so cold, dark, dreary, and wet outside that it gets me extremely depressed. I want to move to Arizona, or California somewhere where the sun shines more and the temperature is more hotter, but all of my family is here in Michigan and i afraid to go someplace where i don't know anyone.Does the winter weather make you depressed?
im sure it has something to do with cabin fever, being clumped up indoors is never fun, get out and dress warm, find something to do that you like outside, sledding skiing, snow ball fights, or building snow men, winter is also a great time for pictures and stuff of the outdoors
    its still summer

y u thinkin so far ahead

    i love the snow

    SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

but yea warm is good tooDoes the winter weather make you depressed?
    Yeah, me too.

I also live in Michigan and last winter I went through a long period of depression. It was terrible. Go to Arizona. I Love it there.
Nope! I love the winter! It's so beautiful!Does the winter weather make you depressed?
Cal. sounds good. I'll come with.
    no way

I love winter activities especially skiing

I just don't like driving in it.
    i love fall and winter
Yes, the only thing I have to look forward to is my birthday and snowboarding. :(

    I'm in Michigan too.
winter weather. does not make me depressed. it actually makes me happy. because i hate warm weather.
    not at all
    No i love snow
i love fall. winter is ok at first then it just drags out. so yeah towards the end i do.
No. I hate summer because I can't stand it when it's all hot and muggy and I'm sweating like a pig. I prefer the fall and spring!
Yeah, it can. It's called Seasonal affective disorder, oddly enough SAD.
Winter is the best season! Let me tell you why.

    No bugs

    Nice weather

    Snow is great

    Sleeping is great

    Hot chocolate

    Christmas

    Holidays, etc
    it makes me happy
I've lived in the Chicago area my whole life, so I'm used to the winter weather. It's just a fact that in the winter it will be very cold.

    It doesn't really affect me.
    i LOVE THE WINTER.

    the summer makes me depressed.

I NEVER GO TO THE BEACH

even though i look quite fabulous in a bikini..and why should i the sun makes you WRINKLY.

    i hate the heat

at least in the winter you can cover up so your warm

whereas in the summer you could walk around naked and still be burning
No it makes me as jolly as a Roger.
I love fall, it is my favourite season, but, yes, I dread winter.
Don't worry, that's normal. But know that it's not as dark because the sun that you do get that isn't hot, is shining from the white snow. And the snow only makes a day whiter. Not darker. So no, I never feel depressed in winter.
Nope. I was actually born on December so I love the winter. LOVE playing with the snow.
fall's ok... normally it's very orange and warm.. and it has halloween..... and that's usually 80 around here.. but...

winter scares the living you know what outta me!

i hate it... oh i hate winter.. now if it were warm and one or two days of nice snow hits then it's warm right after the fall of the amazing white craptasticness... that'd be ok...

BUT NOOOOO! uh uh has to be ice and 400ft of the crap... ugh! and not one single dingleberry knows how to clean their sidewalk!

OR drive in it.. it's like soon as they any freezing rain or any snow it's like OMG OMG i'm going to have a SERIOUS ACCIDENT! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
    Well it's like this..

I love the summer weather if we have had loads of winter weather.

I love the winter weather if we have loads of summer weather.

I don't like it if it's ALL the time.

(But you get used to it if you live in England :/)

But I don't want summer all the time either
    nope I love it =]
    no its calming for me
    i love winter

my school is in a rural place so it looks so pretty when it snows
yep it does ...... and its right around the corner .... just keep going in the winter ..... keep doing exercise to avoid the depression and take brisk walks .......
No way!! It brings my family together!! And by together i mean scrunched up near the one heater near the one sofa. So yea!!
no, i love it. it seems cozy...not because it's cold outside, but because everyone stays inside :]
I'm the same way. I hate winter. I want to move to the same exact places actully.
