Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?

My aunt is getting a new dog but has no idea what breed to get. She lives in northern arizona where it snows alot in the winter , and in the summer its really hot. She has two cats and doesn't want a dog that hates cats. What are a couple of breeds that fit this description?Dog breed good for hot and cold weather and gets along with cats?
Bichon Frise's are the greatest dog's. They are great with everyone, including cats.
A good idea would be an adult mixed breed dog that has been shown to be good around cats. I have two dogs that were shelter animals and they both were raised with cats and now we have one cat and they don't bother him at all. It's hard with the extreme climate changes. I recently adopted a rat terrier x pointer mix from the animal shelter, and she loves cats. She has shortish fur, so its easy to maintain, and a good guard dog. She goes along well with my cat, so a pointer mix might be an option?
