I'm looking for a place that is not huge city but not tiny city, mid range, friendly, lots of land but close to town for motocross and skateboarding, needs to be 1 hour or closer from shore, nice year round weather. What is the nicest city in california or florida or arizona to live in?

What is the nicest city in california or florida or arizona to live in?
Florida really has everything you want but in different areas. It will be difficult to council everything in a single place. If what you're looking for is a provincial life, really calm, then you'll have to avoid big cities and the beach. Counties like Polk and Suwannee are great places, quiet and warm. Lakeland and Pembroke Pines are also nice medium-sized towns.
Arizona can be a good solution for you here. I will address each of your questions separately.

1) Not huge, not tiny: You will find many cities like that in Arizona. It just depends on what makes you comfortable. Tempe is really nice and is where I live at the moment. It is fairly large but not overly so. There is lots of things to do and things are pretty spread out so you can breath somewhat. I would definitely recommend for you to live in the East Valley for the size city you're looking for such as Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, or even Scottsdale. Many of the homes in these areas are very nice and very family friendly and hardly any crime at all. In fact Mesa made headlines as the most boring city in America because it stays out of the news, which is a good thing to me.

2) Mid Range

Many of the homes are affordable, especially in this market. We had a huge housing boom some years back and we have lots of foreclosures so you probably can find a good deal on a home in your price range.

3) Friendly

Contrary to what many believe there are a great deal of wonderful people here who are very cordial and go out of their way to be nice to you. Many cities here are very family friendly.

4) Motocross and skateboarding

We've got ya covered! There are many different tracks you can go to that are not that far away and you can go out to the desert and the mountains to ride as well, since a lot of the land doesn't have restrictions. Much of the land and tracks for motocross are an hour or less away. There are skateboarding parks around as well although they are not so plentiful as far as I know. I know they are around though.

5) Nice weather year round

Arizona has a reputation for a reason. Why do you think everyone comes here during the winter? Usually most of the year is very nice and yes we do have very hot summers but A/C can fix that and there are many swimming parks around. We make it very tolerable to live in heat and I don't think anyone spends time in the sun, many of us are very pale actually. We all make do and stay in the shade. When the fall, winter, and spring come along it's very nice although it always seems too short and then it warms up again.

Plus: Magic Mountain is moving here in a year or so!
