Is the weather more tolerable in Phoenix, Arizona or Austin, Texas?

Interesting question as I've lived in Austin, Texas from 1976-1978 and 1983-1990 and in Phoenix, Arizona from 2002-2009. There is a difference in the heat as Austin is more humid and Phoenix has a dry climate (not much moisture in the air). The main difference is that Phoenix's highs are much higher than Austin and Phoenix has a longer lasting summer. It is not uncommon to have 100 degrees F temperatures in May and also all the way into mid-October in the Phoenix metro area, which would be highly unlikely in Austin. In Phoenix, when it is in the 100 degree plus temperatures, other than swimming outside, no one ventures outside. In addition, it can be 100 degrees F as late as midnight. In Austin, people do venture outside.

You can look through the weather almanac online to look at the weather for both Austin and Phoenix in the past to do a more thorough comparison.

The best part about Phoenix is that the weather from mid-October through March is mild and enjoyable. Austin can get ice storms and an occasional mild snow storm. Phoenix never gets ice storms and only the higher elevations in the outskirts of Phoenix get any dusting of snow. In Phoenix, one can escape the hot weather by going higher up in elevation and this is not possible in Austin.

People love to come to Phoenix for their second vacation homes, for winter vacations, and to retire (often retiring part-time meaning that they come to Phoenix only in the winter months). Austin is more of a year-round place to live.

There are other pros and cons about the two locations so if you're thinking of visiting or living in one or the other place, do your research on other topics of importance to you. Weather is only one aspect to consider. Is the weather more tolerable in Phoenix, Arizona or Austin, Texas?
I've never been to Austin, but I went to Phoenix just two days ago. It was 110-111 degrees during the hottest part of the day, and I was fine. I mean, it's hot, but bearable. I would take 110 degrees with very low humidity over 95 degrees with high humidity any day! The humidity makes it feel hotter. Plus Phoenix always has a slight breeze, not that it is a cool breeze.
Austin is terrible, it is quite humid, I live in Texas and I hate the humidity. I plan on moving to Phoenix at the end of the year. I hear it is not humid, I don't mind the heat, but here in Texas, you go outside, and you are soaking wet by the time you get to your car.Is the weather more tolerable in Phoenix, Arizona or Austin, Texas?
Austin is almost as hot as Phoenix but has far more humidity. I finfd I ca handle dry heat. But having heat AND humidity is just killer.

That is why I live in coastal Orange County in California where it is nowhere near as hot and the humidity is low.
Well it depends on what you want. Cooler or hotter. Phx is blasing. Austin is a little cooler, but not by much.

mine please? HURRY! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…Is the weather more tolerable in Phoenix, Arizona or Austin, Texas?
Phoenix, by a hair. The humidity of Austin makes the heat a lot more hard to deal with.
Probably Phoenix. It's not a humid. Austin is death.
Phoenix is the most ungodly hot place in the U.S. Anywhere is better.
I agreee California is the place you wanna be. Phx does have the worst kind of heat.
