What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?

I went there with a buddy of mine years ago to see the Arizona Cardnials training camp. We went from being in Scottsdale at 110 degrees to 70 degree's in Flagstaff. We were at the Northern Arizona State University Campus. I have always wanted to go back there. But, don't have any idea what's theirs to do? Also, what is the weather like there year round? What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
Flagstaff is a great town with lots to see and do...

As a poster above mentioned, it is home to Lowell Observatory where Pluto was discovered in 1930 (it is still an active observatory). They have a nice visitors center on Mars Hill overlooking downtown.

The old historic downtown area contains many buildings from the boom days as a major railroad, lumber and (later) Route 66 stop. Most are now filled with cafes, art galleries, and shops. The old courthouse, the train depot, and the Monte Vista hotel (where some scenes from Casablanca were filmed) are especially interesting.

The Museum of Northern Arizona (north of town toward the Grand Canyon) is an excellent museum with a mix of natural, cultural and Indian art displays.

Riordan Mansion State Park is a giant mansion built out of logs by Flagstaff's early lumber barons and still contains much of the original furniture and furnishings (just of off South Milton near NAU).

Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments are just NE of town along US89 (the road toward Page and Lake Powell). Wupatki is a prehistoric Indian ruin that you can explore and Sunset Crater is an extinct volcanic field with lava flows and cinder cones. This is one of my favorite northern Arizona spots (and often overlooked).

Walnut Canyon National Monument - On the eastern edge of town (along I-40/Route 66). These are prehistoric cliff-dwellings in a very scenic canyon.

Fairfield Snowbowl and the San Francisco Peaks

The San Francisco Peaks (the big mountains north of town) have excellent hiking as well as a developed Ski Resort (the Snowbowl). In winter, there is skiing (when there is enough snow) and in summer you can take the chairlift to the top of the mountain for excellent views.

Mount Elden - Mount Elden is the more lumpy looking mountain close to East Flag with the radio towers on top (much of the trees were burned away during a big fire in the 1970s and have still not recovered yet). There is a great hiking trail starting near the Flagstaff Mall that takes you all the way to the towers at the top for excellent views.

Good places to eat include Beaver Street Brewery (on Beaver Street south of the Railroad), Macy's Coffee Shop (across from Beaver St), Crystal Creek Sandwiches (on South Milton), Oreganos Pizza (same as the Phx chain, on South Milton), Bun Huggers (hamburgers, on South Milton) and Dara Thai (on San Francisco, south of RR tracks).

Flagstaff is at an elevation of 7000 feet, so it stays pretty cool. Summer highs rarely get much past 90 and I doubt it has ever hit 100. Unlike much of Arizona, Flagstaff does have a real winter with snow storms, icy roads and cold weather. Night time lows below zero are not uncommon in winter. But unlike the northeast, winter storms tend to blow over after a day or two, so you don't have long periods of gray and icy weather.
If you like gorgeous scenery, head south a little to Sedona, AZ. There is tons to see there and the weather is decent all year round. It might be a little cold in the winter but it shouldn't be too bad. What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
Take a ride a couple of hours north and visit Monument Valley. Fantastic scenery, where all those old westerns were made.
You might go to Lowell Observatory. They have tours of the old telescopes there, and at night you can look through the telescope at planets and stars. Since Flagstaff is so high up and the skies are so dark, the view through the telescope is often amazing.

Downtown is also nice - lots of great bars and restaurants. I highily recommend the Beaver Street Brewery, and Macy's coffee shop across the street.

The weather is nice in the spring, summer, and fall, but it gets surprisingly cold up in Flagstaff in the winter, and it snows - unusual for the rest of Arizona. What is there to do in Flagstaff, Arizona?
I used to live in Phoenix. Go up to the mountains, get on the river and tube down to the bottom. That is awesome. OR you could go in search of the lost gold in the Camelbacks (lost dutchman).
Hi Papi!
