I live in the midwest and recently traveled to Tempe, thought it was pretty, but a little hot. Also a college town which I would less prefer. Hear there is a place where weather is 80ish year round vs the 100s. Also recently married, having my first little one so cost is an issue, prefer larger city with lots to do, also minority friendly town. Here scottsdale is nice but expensive.Thinking of relocating to Arizona? Does anyone know of any town with the best weather?
I moved from Va. to southern Arizona in early Oct.. The "winter" lasted from mid Nov until a week or so ago...the daytime temps were in the 60's.
It is now in the 70's. I love it. The cost of my house is so much less that the house I sold, I have invested the difference and it's producing an income. One little thing........ When I was out here last June house hunting, it was around 111 degrees...I hear it can reach 120 in July. BUT......
you treat the heat here, as you would the cold, in Chicago....stay inside....you all try to keep warm...we try to keep cool.
If you want 80 year round, better move to San Diego....and bring lots of cash.
try Payson, about 100 miles NE of the Phoenix area
cooler than Phoenix, but does get snow in the winterThinking of relocating to Arizona? Does anyone know of any town with the best weather?
Cities with the nicer weather will be at a higher elevation than Phoenix such as Prescott, Payson, or Sedona. It can snow a tiny bit but it is so beautiful, especially during the summer. Really, Phoenix is the only big city that you could live in in Arizona. It depends on what you like to do though. There is usually plenty of shopping and things to do outdoors.

That's hard. The large cities with more to do are Phoenix and Tucson, but both of those cities reach the 100's in summer. Tucson is a little cooler than Phoenix most of the year, but is a college town. There aren't really any towns in Arizona that are 80 degrees year round. There are towns that max out around 80 in the summer - Payson, Sedona, Prescott, Flagstaff - but every single one of those cities also get down into the 40's or even lower during the winter, and none of them have that much to do, except Flagstaff, which is, once again, a college town.
I suppose if I had to pick a city that comes closest to your criteria, it would be Tucson. If you thought Tempe was pretty, Tucson looks similar - desert environment with a college campus walking area. The weather is a bit cooler than Phoenix, with summer highs not getting too much, on average, above 100. The city is larger than most, the cost of living is low, and it is Hispanic friendly, certainly. And you're not too far from San Diego, Los Angeles, or Phoenix.Thinking of relocating to Arizona?
