Weather in early to mid July of Phoenix, Arizona?

We are vacationing to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area in Arizona, and are concerned about the weather. It is not the heat that we are concerned about, for the heat is bearable considering it is dry heat, but we are concerned about monsoons. We want to play tennis a lot up there, but monsoons would ruin those plans. I have heard monsoon season begins July, and we are going July 10-17. Whats the possibility that a few monsoons occur during our stay, and if they do, wouldn't the water on the ground quickly evaporate considering it is so hot?Weather in early to mid July of Phoenix, Arizona?
Don't worry about monsoons! We've been having fewer the past few years to begin with. There are more storms on the East side of town (read that as Scottsdale) but you'll know they're coming by the dark skies and wind. The rain will dry up quickly due to our high temperatures. Whatever you do while you are here, do not drive through running water. That is the biggest problem associated with monsoons and do not drive through areas where there are barracades warning you to not enter. If you do enter those areas, your car and you will probably be carried downstream and you will have to pay for your own rescue (called the stupid motorist law here). If you're just in town at a resort, you having nothing to fear. Just go inside and wait until the storm is over (IF any come).
I have been there many times during June and July. If there is a storm of any kind it generally happens at night and you won't even see the water on the ground by morning.Weather in early to mid July of Phoenix, Arizona?
The Monsoons could be a blessing in disquise for a person playing a sport. There is adequate warning when a storm is coming. Just open your eyes and look at the sky for starters.

The blessing comes when it's 114 degrees and a Monsoon rain passes and the temp drops to 74!

I was playing golf at Estrella Mountain and that's exactly what happened. My wife and I drove home with the windows down and thought we were in San Diego. It was so cool.
I would not cancel my plans based on monsoons. They are unpredictable, and the tv stations always let you know if they are in the area. You may or may not experience them. Have a great time.Weather in early to mid July of Phoenix, Arizona?
I'd don't think monsoons will happen ay all!

So your safe to visit!
I've lived here since '82 and we get far fewer storms as the the years pass. Who knows why? I hike Camelback Mt. all the time and used to skip it when it looked like rain and now I just go cause 95% of the time it doesn't rain. If it starts getting dark and the wind starts blowing there's a chance it will rain. We can get some dandy storms tho.
Dont worry dude it seriously rains here once every month and when it does it is usually really short shower or a sprinkle
