I am thinking about going to Arizona for a vacation since I have never been to a desert like area and I would love to see the Grand Canyon. The only time I can go is right after Christmas around New Year's. I have been looking at average temps and they say it is only like 65 degrees during the day. Is that true, because I really want to feel like I'm in the desert.
Basically what kind of weather can I expect and would you recommend going then? ThanksWhat is the Weather like in Arizona in the Winter?
I wouldn't go in January. Check this weather chart for the Grand Canyon.

During the day it could be in the 60's, but the lows can drop to zero. When you're driving you'll probably run into snow. I would wait until April to go the GC. If you just want to experience the desert then come to the Phoenix area. Tons of other snowbirds spend the winter here. Or for that matter you can also go to Palm Springs or Lake Havasu to experience the desert. What is the Weather like in Arizona in the Winter?
The average high in Phx is 65 when you plan to visit and the ave. low is about 40 but is much colder up north. You can visit the south rim of the canyon but the north is closed all winter. You can go as far as Jacob Lake but expect snow. There is a lot of desert to see tho that will be cool/cold but real nice. I just love the desert!!!
