As far as the National Weather Service is concerned it started on July 8th. We've had a few spotty storms pass through Tucson but they have been fairly short lived and not much to get excited about.
If you want to check on rainfall in your area check out the rainlog link. University of AZ is collecting rainfall data statewide there may be someone in your area participating, you could join up as well. The home page might be a bit slow to load the map and data if you're on dial up, and the all user map takes forever even on DSL.Glendale, Arizona got a little weather action last night..but is that the start of the real monsoon?
So did Queen Creek--and I sure hope so. We got the customary wall of red dust, then giant raindrops that lasted a half hour or so . It was amazing, and a nice change.
This should be about the start of it--so hello blackouts, bad driving, and hours by candle light :)
Yes it is my friendGlendale, Arizona got a little weather action last night..but is that the start of the real monsoon?
Yes, that was officially the start of the Arizona Monsoon season. We did have those 3 days of a dew point of 55 or above. There was dust, wind and some rain around most of the Valley from about 7:30 to 9:30 last night. Hey, if it was like last year's; it was a pretty weak start...
I live in Buckeye near I-10 and Watson. We got pretty good winds, but no rain to my knowledge. This is my first year in the valley and I appreciate the heads-up regarding what to expect when the winds really change.Glendale, Arizona got a little weather action last night..but is that the start of the real monsoon?
I live in Glendale and we were watching the storm last night too. I really hope it's the start of monsoon season. It seems to be starting late this year
I don't think we've had the 3 days in a row of dewpoint over 55, have we? I heard a bit of thunder and it sprinkled a little, little bit, but that was about it (I'm in Surprise). We're quite late this year, aren't we?
Haha, yeah that was nothing last night. Wait till August, that's when you get the really bad storms.
I totaled my truck last year in August because of a monsoon storm. I ended up in oncoming traffic on the freeway, thank god no one ran into me.
The monsoon might be officially here, but wait till August to get the really bad storms! Take care!
I live in Peoria. (right on the border of Glendale and Peoria)
we have had some sprinkling already.
it just happens at about 3 in the morning when everybody is asleep.
we do get alot of thunder storms though.
