Is the summer weather in Phoenix Arizona bearable in the evening and...?

We may be moving to the Phoenix metro soon. About what time does the summer heat cool off enough so that you can bare the heat, if at all?

Also - we'd like a river view and preferably both river/mountain view, in a commercially dense city - as far as I could tell it would be either N Tempe or Mesa - Can you advise? Is the summer weather in Phoenix Arizona bearable in the evening and...?
River view and mountain view - Tempe
Mountain view - Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Gilbert, Scottsdale, northern Phoenix, Scottsdale
I wouldn't advise living in Mesa.

You want to live close to your job - traffic is bad at rush hour.

cool off in summer? No - You'll be using your air conditioner!

Hi MissLady!
Just so you know, San Tan Valley is not technically Gilbert. It was Queen Creek but broke off to become it's own community. I have a friend who lives there now. Gilbert is in Maricopa County and San Tan Valley is in Pinal County. This map will show you where it is

This is the map that was on the Pinal site before the name change became official. Is the summer weather in Phoenix Arizona bearable in the evening and...?
River? Ha.. More like riverBED view. Unless you're choosing to live around tempe town lake. Parts of Mesa can be decent, especially those right on the borders of gilbert and chandler. Chandler is nice, as is the San Tan valley area (south gilbert), Ahwatukee (technically phoenix) is netled right up at the base of south mountain. Scottsdale has some nice scenery and has a few ponds around as well as really nice mountain views. Tempe is the college city, so if you want quiet living I wouldn't advise it as it is always on the go constantly. I lived on the gilbert/mesa border for about 11 years and never had any problems. :)Is the summer weather in Phoenix Arizona bearable in the evening and...?
I agree with Pepper's comments. Depending on where you work should be the main driver on where you also should think about living. The North Peoria and North Glendale area around Arrowhead Ranch north of the Loop 101 is also a nice area to add to your list. Pepper is correct in that when people ask in the summer when it cools off at night, we locals tell them October. We do have a summer place in Williams and its a bit over a 2 hour ride door to door for us in the summer time. But, that 2+ hours means a difference of some 50 degrees at night in temperature differences when our summer is at its worst. Good luck on your move and feel free to email us me if you have questions regarding the valley of the Sun/
