When you get into the state of Arizona dial 511 from your cell phone and that number will give you road conditions and every thing you need to know.
It pays to know what's happening there in the winter time, we got stuck in Flagstaff after they closed the roads one winter due to storm conditions. Check out the site below for more info on the roads

Snow is a real possibility in Feb. Just check the weather before you go. Also, as stated above, the county (and park service in the park) is really good about clearing the roads. I lived there for 3 years and never needed chains, I may have had to wait an hour or so before I left for work to give time for the roads to be cleared. Just pack warm because even with out snow, it will be cold.
You know that there is another way of getting to Grand Canyon -GCN- besides the usual boring 267 miles ] Las Vegas-LAS- Kingman , Williams routing don't you ?[

enter this into mapquest

LAS%26gt; Colorado City AZ %26gt; GCN -406 miles

At first glance it looks like you are adding 139 miles onto that trip but on closer examination of that rouing reveals that you are entering GCNP at the Desert View Entrance Station[ which is the best place to see the Canyon for the first time ]and then it's another 35 miles thru the Park and out to the airport -GCN so you're only adding another 100 miles .

However WOW!!! Because the 100 miles that you are adding will be some of the most empty and spectacular in that part of AZ/UT if not the entire Southwest If you wisely choose to do this routing make sure to get gas in Hurricane UT and Cameron AZ

To the snow question : Snow levels in the West [like flora] are very altitude specific . Figure that anything above 5500 feet will get snow. So if you're in blizzard conditions coming thru Jacob Lake going SB on 89A don't panic because as soon as you loose the altitude you will lose most if not all of the weather

Same thing if you chose to do the always boring LAS%26gt;GCN route .The snowline is basically at Ashfork AZ -West of that is no snow -east if that possibly snowI am planing to drive form las vegas to grand canyon and to travel in northern of arizona in the?
Flagstaff (and Coconino County) is amazing for how well they keep the roads up if there is inclement weather. You should have no worries. If you are concerned or want to check something out, as you enter Arizona, there will be a sign designating what radio station you can turn to to hear current road conditions (Sorry, can't think of it off the top of my head).
