Which state would be better for me? Arizona or Texas?

So right now I'm living back in Massachusetts. Due to circumstances I may be moving to Maine. Hopefully that's only temporary. I hate the snow. I've also lived in Utah and South Carolina. Eventually I'd like to settle down in Austin Texas or Phoenix Arizona. Both seem equally appealing. Austin because I'm a musician and Arizona due to the dry weather and desert landscape. The dry weather helps because I'm severely asthmatic.



So what do people think? I've worked mostly in call centers and a homeless shelter. For fun I like to do the music thing, play a ton of poker (and maybe find somewhere I could go to card school and work as a poker dealer?) work out and do some gaming.



I'm a really laid back person and I get along with mostly everyone.



So given all that, which do you think would be more suitable? Keep in mind I don't mind living a very quiet simple lifestyle. Cheaper housing would be ideal. Mobile home parks are fine. I'm not too picky. Thanks a ton in advance.Which state would be better for me? Arizona or Texas?
I don't think you could go wrong with either pick. Both places are great and I like them very much. Phoenix is a little too hot for me in the summer. And it's weird but with all the swimming pools that have been build over the years and the river coming into Phoenix it is actually much more humid than it used to be, say 30 years ago. I know several friends who have lived there since the early 70's that have told me about this and I have also noticed it.



Austin has a great climate and the hill country of Texas is absolutely gorgeous. I think I would pick Austin but would also consider Tucson instead of Phoenix. Tucson is a little cheaper to live in than Phoenix and smaller. As far as the gambling goes Tucson also has several Indian casinos (Phoenix doesn't) where you could play and perhaps eventually get a job dealing.

be wary of Phoenix(they do get dust storms!)

I would suggest farther north in AZ, more like Prescott or Kingman

i dont know about texas but arizona has a ton of indian casinos that you could contact about being a dealer. may even have own card schools.
