I will be relocating to phoenix,az and want to know if it takes a long time to get used to the hot weather.?

In california the highest it can get is 90, but most of the time is overcast and windy (cold) I am in my 50's and am not sure how the change in temperature will affect me. But I do love Arizona.I will be relocating to phoenix,az and want to know if it takes a long time to get used to the hot weather.?
It took me one summer but I moved down here when I was 12 years old. Just drink lots of water and try to move here in the winter that way you get eased into the heat. You don't want to fly here and have it 115 and stay over 105 your first week here. It gets hot but there isn't that much humidity so it doesn't feel as hot as the temp says it is.
Three months out of the year you will hate it. You wont go outdoors and youll keep your AC on full blast. The rest of the year is pretty good... You learn to stand it... youll never really "get used to it"I will be relocating to phoenix,az and want to know if it takes a long time to get used to the hot weather.?
Not long, sister recently moved there from Ohio. It's been getting above 100* lately. She says it's a "different kind of heat." because there's no humidity. - Don't go barefoot.
I just got back from phoenix (and I can't wait to go back) and it got up to 117 degrees one day (100 degrees when the sun went down) but there is no humidity at all. Seriously, mold doesn't even exist there. You don't feel the heat and you don't really sweat. You just need to make sure to drink lots and lots of water. People there dehidrate without even realizing it! Once you get there buy lots and lots of bottled water (because the water from the water fountain is well water and it is really nasty because of all the minerals they put in it)

Basically what I'm trying to say is you are going to have a harder time adjusting to the way people drive than the heat.

If you are able to move in the late fall or winter, then you can acclimate to it gradually. But if you have to move soon, you will have a harder time, but it can be done (others have done it). The temps during the days can get up to 115 degrees and not go below 100 degrees at night. It's a very dry heat (humidity 5-10%, but in the mornings it can get up to 60% during the monsoon season). When the thunderstorms hit in the summer, the temps will break some, so that part is nice (though the thunderstorms can be violent so DO NOT drive if at all possible and stay out of the washes or you can find yourself stuck with water coming at you very quickly).

Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially in the summer. Use plenty of lotion so you're skin stay moisturized too.

Winters are nice and mild (for AZ that is) with temps in the 70/80's during the winter (though if there is a cold snap it can get to 50/60's too as a high). It does get into the freezing temps for a low once in awhile during the winter, but that's not an everyday sort of thing.
