Is Mexico City a bad place to move into?

I currently live in Arizona. I have traveled to some mexican cities such as Guadalajara, Jalisco and Culiacan, Sinaloa. I loved the rainy weather there since here in Arizona it is always extremely hot. I have never gone to Mexico City but i bet it's sort of like Guadalajara since it's nearby. Is it a good idea to move there? Why or why not?Is Mexico City a bad place to move into?
Mexico City is safe compare to other cities AND especially to the northern cities.

Drug problems aside (since you'll be fine as long as you don't get mixed in with them) it will be a really different experience. I also lived in Arizona (Tucson) and have also been to Culiacan and Guadalajara.

In Mexico City traffic will be far more populated than in Guadalajara, we're talking long drives (over an hour usually). I know people who have lived there their whole lives and still get lost from time to time. Things are cheaper since the economy is great due to all of the shopping and tourism that occurs. Compared to the quaint cities back home everything will be smooshed together and I have often felt squished. The loud noises and screaming is also very very annoying. If you plan on retiring I can tell you, you wont get bored however, if you plan of moving there and finding a job than that will be rough.

All in all, I prefer the states to live in, but for a long vacation I prefer Mexico or really anywhere. Is Mexico City a bad place to move into?
Good points:

safer from drug related violence than Guadalajara or Culiacan - in fact it's the safest big city here, doesn't get as hot as either of those if you don't like the heat, very efficient public transportation system, largest city in North America so it's much more civilized and cosmopolitan

Bad points: terrible traffic, poor air quality in the dry winter months, Popocatepetl volcano visible from the city has periodic ash eruptions-also bad for the air, built on an unstable lake bed in a highly seismic area.
once upon a time mexico city was the most dangerous city in the country, but now its the safest. its one of the biggest cities in the world, so the drug war doesnt get here cause of the amount of people living here.

the climate is amazing!! its never too hot and never too cold, it rains a little bit almost every night so the air gets colder.

its also the city with more museums in the world, so you always have something to do.

but as in all cities, it all depends on the area you move into. i live in condesa and i can tell you that im in love! you dont need a car, because everything like restaurants, bars, parks, shopping and groceries are on walking distance, and since its full of coffee shops and book stores and bars people are always walking at night so its pretty safe

plus you have acapulco beach at a two hour drive! Is Mexico City a bad place to move into?
I usually try to speak well about my country but I am afraid I will say it's not the right place to move into.

I was born in Mexico City and I love it but y family left it years ago. As it is one of the largest cities in the world, it comes with all the problems of a big city:

*Terrible pollution

*Overpopulation. Huuuge ques for everything!

*The traffic will drive you crazy. Is it worth it to take 2 hours to go from one place to another? It is seriously crazy.

*Robberies and express kidnappings. My auntie was a victim of a cab driver, took her to a cash machine and stole her money. Unfortunately, it's more common in Mexico City than we would like to admit.

*If you have family you will hardly see them. Life in the city doesn't allow you to go home and eat with them. It's all in a rush and people are very stressed out (Reason my parents moved south instead). The family and friends that still are there can't wait to get out, it's a tough life.

Of course it has many good things: amazing museums, gigs, nightlife. Great cultural sites, loads of history and there's great variety of lifestyles. Not to mention the best jobs are there.

I miss it... :(
well lately all around mexico there have been problems with people breaking into house stealing things or people killing other people , all these problems isnt to good (i hope it stops soon), just 2 weeks ago my great grandmas house got broken into and robed in mexico :/ but i would say mexico city, it seems like a cool place to me, just be careful though, maby you should get like 2 protecting dogs to be with you at the house yeah know?
I don't think it's a very good idea. The pollution is dreadful, and the traffic is too. When it rains, it floods in some places. Crime is pretty bad too.
Well given the current conditions with all the drug lords and shooting going on down there, I personally wouldn't move there for my safety.
you scared?
