What is the best transportation method for Vancouver, BC?

Hi I am thinking about moving from Arizona (110 degree weather in the summer) to Vancouver. I'm looking to keep my living costs (insurance, gas, maintenance, etc) at a minimum so I'm thinking about not bringing my car over. Would you say a scooter is a sufficient transportation method or would you say weather is not very forgiving of using just a scooter? Any extra advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance! What is the best transportation method for Vancouver, BC?
Welllll..... um if you don't know, it kinda rains ALOT here, exept for in the summer. It can rain for like ages, and it's all gloomy sometimes. In the winter, it's all snow, this winter, in the more elevated areas, there was like 4 feet of it!!!! The recession hasn't hit as much here as in the other provinces, so I think your living costs will be fine. If you don't want to bring a car, I suggest transit. The bus system is excellent, and there's also skytrain in most areas. It's gonna be a big temp difference from Arizona, isn't it!!! Lol! Well, good luck!
In summer you'll be fine, in winter there will be challenges. It can start raining in mid September and not really let up until sometime in late May or even June. The roads are often wet. It does snow occasionally, and when it's clear in winter the roads can be icy overnight. I guess whether a scooter is practical depends on how far you have to travel, how flexible you can be about waking up in the morning and saying "not today", and how well you can deal with getting rained on during your ride. Not to say that people don't ride scooters in Vancouver, but they have limitations. What is the best transportation method for Vancouver, BC?
"Hi".........I presumed you were a U.S.citizen but I see that you are a Honduran studying in the U.S.A. and as I live here I can therefore appreciate you wanting to move here....it is a beautiful city . *S*

I don't want you to be disappointed at the Canadian border so there is just one thing though and that is you should research first how you can accomplish this ,unless you plan on staying less that 6 months which is what you would be allowed to do as a visitor if allowed entry !

However moving here permanently and working here takes some planning .

If you are wishing to live here only ,or live and work here ,or live and study here , then you should look at this site thoroughly and I mean thoroughly before we answer your scooter question in great detail .....

Incidently however a scooter is fine coupled with some rain gear for those "Wet Coast" days ! *lol*

Glad to help and hopefully a "Welcome to Canada" ! *S* (Michael C...)
Vancouver has a great Mass Transit system, with the "SkyTrain" which is an elevated railway in the suburbs which becomes a subway in the Downtown area.

They also have trolleybuses (electric buses) downtown. What is the best transportation method for Vancouver, BC?
