Why is rain considered bad weather?

This has surprised me. All my life I really had a wonderful mood when it rained. I searched the internet...and found not one thing regarding someone having a good mood in rainy weather. Is it just me? Is it cause I live in Arizona? Im pretty mellow and just love relaxing on those rainy days, listening to some Floyd or other mellow classic rock.



And believe it or not, sun puts me in a bad mood. And its sunny just about everyday here. So, is this just me?Why is rain considered bad weather?

I consider rain bad weather cause its all grey and depressing outside. many of my friends enjoy rainy days but i do not!! it also sucks to travel in the rain!
I guess anything that is an inconvenience to "people" and their plans is considered "bad". Lol! I have to agree, most people do not like the rain, and prefer the sun. Thank God for the rain!! We would sure be in a bind without it. Last year was record breaking "lack" of rain for us down here in South Louisiana. The ground was all cracked up and peoples flowers and gardens were dying. In that situation people were inconvenienced, so they were hoping for rain. Which....we did get., later on in the summer.

Perhaps those of us that live where it doesn't rain so often have a better appreciation of it. My neighbors get a hoot out of me because I will put on a swimming suit and go outside and thoroughly enjoy getting soaked. I love the sun too-even when it is fry an egg on the sidewalk hot. We haven't had rain in a very long time and I'm looking forward to it, whenever it happens.
If rain comes at the proper time (with sufficient amount of rainfall)it is most welcome.If it comes as an unwanted guest, it is troublesome.For example,the recent unusual rain(usually rainfall will be less during this part of the year) in the South India(where I live) have flooded many places and destroyed standing crops which are about to be harvested.So, all the farmers have lost whatever they invested during this season.There is a proverb in Tamil Language.

Even Amirdham( a heavenly drink) will become poison if taken excessively.This is true with the rain as far South India is concerned.
I don't think you are alone, but you might be the only human who feels that way, see, I have heard rain described as "good weather if you are a duck."
Well, personally, i think rain is relaxing. It's nice, cool, and humid and it doesn't stick to your skin like when it's very sunny and you start sweating. You don't tighten your muscles on your eyebrows (around that area) when it's cloudy but when it's sunny, you do it for so long that you simply can't do it anymore. However, sunny weather is mostly preffered when doing an outdoor activity such as camping, going to the park, or to the beach. So, there's times you like rain and there's times you like the sun.

Well I personally hate the rain because I live in Sanfransisco and it's never really sunny, mostly foggy or cloudy, but maybe it's 'cause you in Arizona and it doesn't really rain that often
i love rain. like absolutely, and it rains a lot here so yeah. its very happy for me.
wow, i live in florida and the same thing is with me, i love it when it rains and just chilling in my room listening to music and rain. the sun puts me in a bad mood also because its always so hot and bright, but the rain is kinda dim and the smells are great and the feeling of the water is awesome when you're out in it. so no its not just you.
it's generally what you always have that doesn't make you happy. I like the rain compared to snow (I live in Canada where we have snow 7 months out of the year).
nope its not just you. i guess most ppl like to feel the warmth of the sun on their cheeks and not raindrops. i dont care as long as i can be outside one way or another.

1. You get ready for work go outside and get you clothes soaked, it si avoidable but its an extra hassle.

2. Driving in the rain stinks... lots of accidents means lots of traffic, means waking up earlier to make sure you get to work on time means less sleep, means less alert drivers means more accidents... you get the idea.

3. people like warmer weather. (i will never understand why)



I like the rain, but i wish it was smarter... if i could leave me a walkway to my car in the morning, and stay off the roads it would be the perfect weather. But i agree it is relaxing.
well maybe because you live in Arizona, the rain will cool you off. Where I live, New York, its often cold. Rain can get really annoying, and ruins everything.
Oh no, I am that way too. Many times people have said I was weird when I said it was a lovely day when it was raining. I love rainy weather!

Sunshine naturally elevates serotonin levels. Serotonin is a chemical in your brain that controls moods, especially moods of well being.



Rain on the other hand can produce negative ions (like the kind in room ionizers / filters), which have been also proven to elevate mood.



Most people like sunshine more because they can do things outside. Many people like both rainy days and sunny days. Usually, most prefer sunshine on weekends or days off.
Farmers consider rain good weather when it's needed. Rain can be good or bad. To much of it is bad or even to little of it is bad. A nice spring shower is good.
We need rain and if we dont get it we are doomed. So I just praise the Lord when it rains and dont cry. same for you. just be happy for sunshine.

The UVB that is in sunlight produces endorphins, which is basically a substance that makes us feel good. You can also get basically the same rays emitted by the sun by visiting a tanning bed. That is why when you leave a tanning bed, usually a person feels so good (that is, if you didn't get burnt lol). --Also why there are people called "tanorexics" lol. They like those endorphins that are being produced that make them feel good.



Also, some people might consider rain bad weather because car wrecks are more prevalent in rainy weather. This could be due to the car hydroplaning on the slippery roads or not being able to see as good through the rain. I had my first wreck when it was raining. I was turning, and the car hydroplaned. I lost total control of the breaks and hit a sign!
Yes it is just you! I hate rain!! It's cloudy and it just looks gross outside. I love sunny days it just makes you want to go outside and have fun!

Perhaps because you live in Arizona, where you get anywhere from 5-20 on average, depending on where you live. Meaning it doesn't rain very often. In a place like Mississippi, where it will sometimes rain for weeks, it can get depressing. The sky is grey and gloomy for long periods of time, days on end. You can't go out and enjoy yourself outside by taking a walk for a while. It kind of sucks sometimes.
It is considered bad for two reasons. The main reason is because rain makes it harder to do a lot of things. Rain is not the ideal condition for driving cars, flying airplanes, holding sporting events, etc. so it is considered "bad" weather. Secondly, many people find rainy weather depressing and dreary, thus affecting their mood so it is also called "bad" weather.
